RUBY TUESDAY AND MORE WISDOM FROM POOH BEAR.

Rick Astley - Hold me in Your Arms

Good Afternoon on Ruby Tuesday and I hope there have been gems and jewels in your day and that the sun has shone for you.  It is has been a very cool day in Adelaide and a busy one for me - well at least a busy morning.

It started off with the dreaded blood test and it wasn't any better than it usually is - but we finally managed on the fourth attempt to draw blood from the back of my right hand.  I came home looking dramatic with four dressings on.

I met lovely people in the waiting room and managed to do some reading - and we got what we needed so it was a good event.  Then it was shopping, post office, Pharmacy for medication.   I also made a visit to the Optometrist who gave me the sad news that my favourite pink glasses were beyond repair.   I dropped them on the bathroom floor and while moving around looking for them I stepped on them.   Sad news because I liked them and I also liked having a pair to wear with pink.   I shall go back to where I bought them and see if they have another frame and see if the lenses can be changed over.

I collected a "green waste" bin from my local Council for kitchen scraps placed in special bags and these can go in the green waste bin for composting.  After doing some shopping I came home very tired.

I have to go out again tomorrow this time for a cordless telephone for my bedroom and to return a kitchen blender because of a Manufacturer's recall. I will have parcels to post, stamps to purchase and make a visit to the Bank.  Seems there are lots of errands to be done.

I was very cold this afternoon so took my book and sat in the car for a while -I got very hot and went to sleep and woke up feeling very groggy but I was no longer cold.

Some lovely wisdom from Pooh Bear again today and I am thankful for the people who live in my heart forever and whose memory stirs my soul.  I think of the things they said and did and how loved I felt and how special they made me feel.  Pooh Bear is right they do stay there forever.

I have medications to sort out now and some letters to write and once again the sun will set on my day and it will be time to rest.  It has been an ordinary day - and how thankful I am for those ordinary days.  I remember oh so clearly when I wept for them, pleased for them and called out for them.   Now I welcome them - busy, ordinary, shopping type days - I relish them.

I hope there is some contentment in your heart and that your day is filled with ruby red gems and pearls of wisdom from the likes of Pooh Bear.   Thanks for visiting and taking the time to read the "Musings from my Heart."
Call back soon - I value your visits.,

Love and hugs,
Linda.

MEMORIES ARE MADE OF THIS.

Harry Belafonte - Try to Remember

Welcome to evening in my little corner of the world - it is dark now and the rain is still falling - rather a nice evening to be inside and to be warm again.

I have been out again today - I know quite the little gadabout - this time a new hairdo and a short shopping trip trying to find a new handbag that will take all I need and not have everything fall to the bottom - I carry far too much, and I have tried to minimize it but it doesn't work, so I am on a handbag hunt.  It was great watching John trying to appear very inconspicuous in David Jones as I searched for my treasure.

I am heading for an early night but like to check in daily - this may not be a long post, but once I start it often just happens.

There have been snippets of good news during today - Kenzie is doing okay and Ethan is home and I haven't heard so I am hoping that means good news.

I introduced Kortni to you yesterday and I am very pleased to report that they have found a liver for her and she will just about ready to be wheeled into theatre as I write for this life saving operation.   I hold her close and give thanks for the generosity of her donor family.  At at time of extreme stress for them they have stepped up to the bar and granted Kortni the gift of life.

Some strange things have been happening to me recently - phone calls from people I haven't seen or heard of for months/years - there have been five or six phone calls that have rocked my little boat.  Not that they are bad, but just out of the blue and a surprise.  Several times things have happened to me that I cannot account for but have been the right thing at the right time.

It is a little unnerving, but nice to catch up and to try to remember so many things from the past.  My phone call last night was one were memory was stirred and the lady could remember things I had forgotten, but I remembered several things that she did not.

This song is very special to me - My Dad used to sing it to me because I was born in September:

Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh, so mellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain was yellow.
Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a tender and callow fellow.
Try to remember, and if you remember,
Then follow.

Try to remember when life was so tender
That no one wept except the willow.
Try to remember when life was so tender
That dreams were kept beside your pillow.
Try to remember when life was so tender
That love was an ember about to billow.
Try to remember, and if you remember,
Then follow.

Deep in December, it's nice to remember,
Although you know the snow will follow.
Deep in December, it's nice to remember,
Without a hurt the heart is hollow.
Deep in December, it's nice to remember,
The fire of September that made us mellow.
Deep in December, our hearts should remember
And follow.

I value the sense of memory - good and bad because hopefully from the bad lessons have been learned.  There was much laughter during my phone conversation and we left it that we would be in touch again and possible go out for breakfast sometime soon.

I hope you can find a quiet spot and "try to remember" and that there are sweet memories for you that bring a smile to your lips and sunshine to your day/stars to your night.

Please take care and try to remember all the good things in life, share them with someone who may also remember and be glad you did.

Thank you for visiting the "Musings from My Heart" and I send love and hugs your way.

Linda.

UNFORGETTABLE FRIDAY AND UNFORGETTABLE MANY THINGS

(Natalie Cole and Nat King Cole - Unforgettable)

Good Morning and welcome to Friday and I hope this will be an unforgettable day for you wherever you are in this world and whatever you have to or choose to do.

I started thinking about forgetting things, when at dinner on Wednesday I had offered to get a drink and then completely forgot all about it and needed reminding. I have become increasingly aware of the times when I no longer remember things - when I have to go back to where I was to stir the thought of what I was about to do.  It isn't just happening to me, it is happening to so many people I know - young and older.  I am a big note writer and place notes all over the place to remind me to do things.

Of course thinking about forgetting brought thoughts of remembering and all the things that my memory has stored as "unforgettable".  Things in my memory that I hold dear and revisit often are often not the same memories of the person who shared those times with me.  They remember different things, some things I have completely forgotten about are brought to mind because they live in another's memory.

Memory is a wonderful thing because irrespective of where I am, the time of day or night I have the facility to relive special times and events.  I find it fascinating that I can remember so far back to my childhood days and even though there are lots of things that I don't really need or wish to remember - there they are.   I sometimes wish that my brain was like a hard drive that I could erase files from and free up space for other memories. My mind is always active and I try to encourage it to be so - to challenge it by reading and being aware of things going on in our world.  To discuss and debate world issues and politics, do crossword puzzles and memory games - I really want to keep my memory sharp.

My Father actively encouraged me to discuss and debate and we would spend long times in deep conversation and I miss him.
(Celtic Thunder - The Old Man)

"I never will forget him For he made me "what I am" Though he may be gone Memories linger on And I miss him, the old man" © John McDermott

Thinking of memory brought to mind how painful it must be for families to watch their loved ones fade from them mentally - physically they are still with them but Alzheimer's or dementia has set in.   "The long goodbye." and I think the saddest thing of all is that they often don't remember that you love them -
"and the lips form the words that the heart no longer sings".

Cherish your memories, perhaps take time to share them with your children, write them down so that they are not lost - family anecdotes and stories are wonderful.  I know this from talking to my Mother's cousin on the phone from Melbourne - when we can recall our childhood days and laugh at the things we did.

What sort of things are unforgettable to you ? Your wedding, the birth of your children, your special trips overseas, the people you miss so much, times spent with those you love.

Some of the things unforgettable to me are the births of my daughters, their graduations, love in their eyes, special pets, high days and holidays, hospital trips.  Fear in the eyes of my children, then much relief there when things improved.  Friendships that I cherish, walks on a windswept beach, music that stirs my soul, books I enjoyed, the view of a mountain top, waking to a white world when snow has fallen overnight. Special people and laughter.

"I am grateful for beautiful memories"

Make your days unforgettable, find joy in the little things, "dance like no one is watching" "sing like no one is listening" and practice random acts of kindness because those little things can make the day unforgettable for someone and you can make special memories for others.
It doesn't cost anything to smile and say "Thank you", "Good Morning", nor to ask "How are you?" and then be sure to listen to the reply.  Just listening can make a memory to last.

Enjoy your Friday - enjoy the anticipation of the weekend ahead no matter what plans you have, be sure to step out boldly and enjoy your life. Enjoy the tasks you have to do and also the things you want to do - take special care and I send love and hugs and thanks for visiting to share "The Musings From My Heart."
