Good Morning and welcome to Wonderful Wednesday - I love Wednesdays because each one adds another week to the time lapse since my Liver Transplant and today is 65 weeks. Another week of being alive, living well and learning so very much - another week of being grateful for life and for my Donor family.
I have learned so very much about so many things - and I'm still learning - I have developed an "attitude of gratitude" and learned to give thanks for the little things, so much so that it now almost comes as second nature to me.
My learning has come to the stage when I now know that it's okay to share my story and my feelings and to value the support from friends. I kept things prior to transplant very quiet and only included a small group of friends and of course family. Friends knew I was ill but not how ill nor what was going on. I doubted that I could have coped with the waiting and questions being asked and I now know that I deprived myself of much loving support and denied many people the opportunity to express their care. Lesson learned.
I have learned to be more open and allow my feelings to be known and I think that blogging has helped me with that. I cannot begin to express my thanks enough to those who faithfully visit my blogs and read the story of my journey.
It's been another restless night and I have been at the PC since just after 4.00.a.m. and I have no idea what the weather for Adelaide holds today, although I think it is to be cooler today, after what was a glorious day yesterday. Azure blue sky, tiny and soft white wispy clouds, gentle breeze and bright sunshine. A good day for drying clothes, but better still a good day to be alive.
I am still feeling discomfort from my procedure last week, but I think this morning it is less and that's a nice feeling.
I sometimes amaze myself at the things that go through my mind during the sleepless hours. During this past night I started thinking about films I have seen over the years and enjoyed/loved/disliked or hated.
I came up with a varied balance sheet and could list so very many - but the tags on this blog reflect a film I really enjoyed. "Gone with the Wind" is a film which came late to me - in fact it would only be about six years since I saw it. I watched it on video during a stinking hot Valentine's Day - 44 (113 +) degrees and bush fires raging in the Adelaide Hills. I sat in air conditioned comfort and enjoyed "Gone with the Wind" I was so sure that I had missed the classic line from the film and that I had fallen asleep - I didn't realize that that line comes almost at the very end.
"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn"
I loved the film and was absolutely amazed at the costumes and the sets bearing in mind no computer graphic images in 1938 when this film was made (released in 1939). Vivien Leigh was beautiful and of course the handsome Clark Gable. I intend to purchase this film on DVD and indulge myself again soon.
There are lots of other films I have seen and enjoyed and I will list just six more of them:
Doctor Zhivago - my all time favourite
Ryan's Daughter - wonderful wonderful John Mills
Fiddler on the Roof - magic music
Paint your Wagon - great music
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe
Steel Magnolias
I could have listed so many more, but will leave those for another day - these are all films that are quite old now, but I have seen amazing movies recently too (can't ignore or not include "The King's Speech" with the gorgeous Colin Firth - be still my beating heart!)
My daily gratitude this morning is:
"I am grateful for memories - they feed my soul."
I guess memory is like having a "replay button" in my mind and I am able to go back and visit beautiful times and beautiful people.and times spent with them.
My memory also allows me to revisit times that have been difficult but are over and to give thanks for many many things including the wonderful lessons learned.
So, my friends on this early Wednesday morning here in the peace and quiet of my little corner of the world, I give thanks for your friendship and support and wish you a beautiful day and lots of nice things happening for you.
I think the word "nice" is underestimated it can describe so many things - food, company, coffee, sunrise, sunset - I know they are beautiful but they are nice too.
Find some nice things in your life today - say thank you to someone who does something "nice" for you (opens a door, brings the mail in, puts the kettle on, listens to what you have to say - all little and but very nice things.
Wave to your neighbour as you back out of your drive, take the neighbours rubbish bin in for them - make where you live a pleasant place. Be kinder than you have to be and practice random acts of kindness.
Gratitude to you all for visiting and reading "Musings from My Heart" and sending love and hugs your way.

This is a wonderful post. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Thank you. Hugs Diane
Your "attitude of gratitude" is infectious and reminds me constantly to be thankful for the world I live, it's inhabitants and the fact that I awake of a morning to a new day full of possibilities. So I must off to explore these and thank you for another nice morning start.
