Welcome to my little corner of the world on a beautiful Easter Sunday afternoon and I hope that you have all had a wonderful Easter time with family and friends and have made memories to sustain you through the year.
I woke this morning to a cool and crisp morning on a day holding much promise both of good weather and special times. It certainly was special to me. John and I were meeting a distant cousin and her husband for breakfast. Elizabeth's Grandmother and my Grandfather were brother and sister and there are some feisty genes there - it is definitely a case of nature and not nurture. The mannerisms and gestures are so similar to those of my daughters. When they say "it's in the genes" they are certainly right.
We are a family of mainly women - our babies are mainly girls who give birth to girls and it was delightful to meet "a girl of my heart" this morning and see the woman now standing in the place of the little girl who used to visit. It was lovely to see her so very secure and happy in her marriage. We exchange emails and letters, but I didn't realize until this morning how special it was to just be together. Even though it was only for a little while - it will remain cherished in my heart.
"In every heart there is a room
A sanctuary safe and strong..."
A sanctuary safe and strong..."
This morning it was lovely to open the door to the room of my heart and revisit with this cherished soul and to hear her say "of all my relatives I am most at home when I am with you" brought me to tears. We have always felt a very great affinity from when she was a little girl and would be put on the plane and I would collect her here and she would stay for the school holidays.
I was ill when she was married and was not able to travel so it was a delight to meet this lovely man who has won her heart and to know that he does exist and that he is delightful. I have been told so often but this morning he passed muster.
There is a special corner of my heart that will always belong exclusively to Elizabeth Alicen - Dizzy Lizzy. We shared memories of other times, missing flights and train stoppages.
They shared pictures of their new home with us and we drank coffee until we were all coffeed out. As they walked back to their car I turned and watched them and saw them in the distance hand in hand and it felt so right.
I hope that your Easter Day has brought you joy of some kind - laughter and friendship, family, children, good food, chocolate and that you have made good memories which will serve you well in the days ahead. I have. It was a special time I would not have missed or changed for the world.
She was full of questions to me about my transplant and how I am going, and I think she has gone home feeling comfortable that I am well and that I am doing okay. She has seen for herself.
My gratitude today is:
I am grateful for the love that binds hearts together irrespective of the distance between them.

Wherever you are and however you are spending this special time - I wish you joy and happiness and safety - I wish you love.
Thank you for taking the time to visit and to read "The Musings from My Heart" a grateful heart.
