SUNDAY IN THE RAIN - TAKE ME TO A PARK THAT'S COVERED WITH TREES

Tell Me on a Sunday please - Andrew Lloyd Webber

Welcome to my damp little corner of the world - we are blessed this morning with steady rain, falling straight down - no wind.  A beautiful walk in the rain day and I was off to the Park when it started.  I want to take some photographs of autumn by the river and of the Memorial Donate Life Garden, but it is going to have to wait until this rain slows down or stops.

"Take me to a park that's covered with trees
Tell me on a Sunday please"
(lyrics from this song) and I was off to "a park that's covered with trees"

I wanted to detach myself from world affairs and get away from television and radio and just to commune with nature, instead I shall be staying indoors and watching the nature show through the window and listening to the rain.  It is supposed to ease later in the day and I may get there then.

I am grateful for a roof to keep me dry and for the lovely view from my windows of puddles and beautiful pewter coloured skies.   I have made another cup of coffee and will see what the weather does.

It is amazing how much influence the weather has on our lives.  We want beautiful sunny dry days for weddings, hot summer weather for summer pool parties, and glorious cooler days for picnics and celebrations but that is the one thing over which we have no control.

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of America as they have gone through and still are going through the tornado season, the people of Queensland and Victoria as they struggle to recover from the floods.  Our friends in Christchurch and Japan as they try to recover from their earthquakes - you are in my thoughts.  All of these people have been severely affected by weather.

My cat is curled up on a chair (she doesn't like wet feet), my coffee is hot and strong and my changed morning is bringing a different kind of joy.  Two of my girls are travelling home by car from Broken Hill and I wish them safe travelling in the rain (at least they won't be hot.)  So many public events have had to be cancelled today and that brings disappointment for people who have been planning for months.

It really is the sort of day for lovely smells to come from my kitchen - I could make bread or a lovely warming casserole - I have no idea what I shall make (if anything.)  It is not yet 10.30 on Sunday morning although by the time I get this blog posted it will be, so there is lots of this day still to be enjoyed.

We live in a very interesting world and how lucky we are to be able to be in different places in "real time" - and seeing the recent Royal Wedding was a special time for so many people (including me.)   I am still full of it all and so pleased that all went well.    This link will take you to some of the official photographs of the event and taken at the Palace and some images of the very thrilled crowds.

So on this wet wet Sunday I send my love and care to you all and encourage you to find joy around you, see the beauty in nature, laugh with your children, take a walk, ride a bicycle, splash in puddles, bake cookies, make a casserole, make soup, bake bread, play with Play Dough with your children - do some of the simple things that make this life so sweet.  Don't forget to make that phone call to a relative who will love to hear from you, celebrate joy and celebrate life - I shall.

"I am thankful for the gift of life"

Thank you for visiting and reading "The Musings of My Heart" a thankful and contented heart today.

I am so glad you did get out today. Rain may keep us indoors but it cleanses and refreshes our Earth.
New growth on trees is delightful and shows us the regeneration, resilience and wonder of these magnificent creations
