WELCOME TO SATURDAY AND LADY IN RED.

Simply Red - Holding back the years.

Good Morning and welcome to Saturday in my little corner of the world where the sun is shining and the day holds promise of being warm  - I have decided I don't need to go shopping today - I have everything I need.
I am wearing red today - a colour I don't often wear, but if memory serves me well there have been special times when I have worn red and there have been happy times.   I recall one particular incident - but that's for another time and another place.

It was a choice this morning between Chris De Burgh and Lady in Red for the music on this post, but Mick Hucknall won and I will save Lady in Red for another day.

"Holding back the years
Thinking of the fear I've had so long
When somebody hears
Listen to the fear that's gone
Strangled by the wishes of pater
Hoping for the arms of mater
Get to me the sooner or later

Holding back the years
Chance for me to escape from all I've known
Holding back the tears
Cause nothing here has grown
I've wasted all my tears
Wasted all those years
And nothing had the chance to be good
Nothing ever could yeah

I'll keep holding on
I'll keep holding on
I'll keep holding on
I'll keep holding on
So tight

Well I've wasted all my tears
Wasted all of those years
And nothing had the chance to be good
Cause nothing ever could oh yeah

I'll keep holding on
I'll keep holding on
I'll keep holding on
I'll keep holding on
Holding, holding, holding

That's all I have today
It's all I have to say"

I have had a slow and sluggish start to my day and took the advice of a friend and indulged myself in a long hot shower and now feel so much better - dressed in red and some Christmas jewellery - the day can only get better.

The shower has always been my "crying place" where I could hide my tears from the world and tell the children that "mummy had soap in her eyes" and I love the feeling of the water washing over me and it is a place I go to for comfort and release from pain, both physical and emotional.   If I am asked what I remember most about being in ICU - my answer is swift and always the same - that first shower after four long weeks.  The sheer joy of the water washing over my skin - nothing will ever erase that from my memory.  I recall the warmth and the gentle flow of the water and how it didn't matter a scrap that I was sitting naked on a chair and being washed by two male nurses.

I have tried holding back the years and

"When somebody hears

Listen to the fear that's gone"

I have done much housework on my emotional baggage and let so much of it go - it is so liberating and I am happy to be in that safe and secure place where I know I am who I was born to be.

My heart is full and happy and I know that I live on borrowed time, but it is my intention to make the best of every moment of that time.  I am here for who knows how long and every day is a bonus.  I want to dance on the wind, walk the shoreline and feel the wind in my hair, taste the salt sea spray and watch the birds as they soar and dive.
"I want to live
I want to grow
I want to be
I want to know"

I had the whole day in front of me and looking at the clock now the morning is half gone, but it has been a good morning and I am at peace with myself - the cat is sleeping in the sun, I have gentle music playing and a steaming hot coffee - God is in His Heaven and all is well in my little corner of the world.

It is a stressful time for Nick and Rebecca with University Exam papers to be marked and got in and yet the other part of my family is in Tasmania - with friends and then kayaking at Wine Glass Bay.  I gave them roots to anchor them and wings that they might fly - and they are all doing that - and it gives me great joy to see them soar.

Coffee this morning in a Christmas cup with a Santa and the word BELIEVE - and I do believe in the magic of Christmas and the joy that it brings - I delight in all the decorating and fuss - I love every moment of having my family altogether - although at times that can be a bigger production than Ben Hur.

Sorry for any errors in this - I have just put cream on my skin and my fingers are slipping off the keyboard - guess that brought a smile - it did to me - only I could be that silly.

Enjoy your Saturday - take time apart to spend with someone you love - be sure to tell them that you love them, walk in the fresh air, bake cookies with a child, read a story, relax and be at peace.

To those who have a birthday or transplant anniversary - celebrate your special day - celebrate your life.

Thanks for reading the Musings of My Heart today - a heart that is at peace with itself and is grateful for everything I have and am.   I am grateful to so many of you for the continued support you give me.  There are those who have put a lot of energy and effort into helping me find myself and they know who they are and I thank them from the bottom of this thankful heart.

Love and hugs,
Linda.

HELLO - IT'S RUBY TUESDAY

Rubies
Ruby Tuesday - The Stones

Welcome to Ruby Tuesday - it is very cold in my little corner of the world and I am wearing a red top to hopefully make me feel a little warmer.

I was thinking of all the beautiful things related to the colour red and lost count a long time ago as there are just so many of them.

The colour red can be chosen to represent danger and warning (fire engines, stop lights etc.) It is  often is considered to be a colour of romance and love - red roses etc. and all of those things aside it is just a very lovely colour.

  1. The ruby is considered to be the most powerful gem in the universe, and is associated with many astral signs. To own a ruby is said to have contentment and peace. Placed under a pillow the ruby may ward off bad dreams. Ruby rings should be worn on the left hand so as to receive the life force and have protection. Given as a gift, the ruby is a symbol of friendship and love. The ruby is also the symbol of vitality and royalty.

I hope that there is some ruby red in your day and that you feel the warmth of friendship all around this world.  Several friends are unwell at the moment and my love and warm thoughts  goes out to them.  We really do need to be a little kinder to everyone because we don't know the type or weight of the burden they are carrying.

Sending some red thoughts to everyone - the beautiful red dust of our outback Australia, the many shades in a glorious sunset and the beautiful petals on the rose "Loving Memory"

"Loving Memory"

Today holds some sadness and memory for me - it is nine years today since a very dear friend left our lives - she died while talking on the telephone to me and it brings me sadness and yet some relief to know that she now rests in peace and is troubled no longer.  Loving Memories of you Nola.

Our lives have all moved on and we are now at the stage where we can talk about her with affection and it doesn't hurt quite so much and we are able to remember and laugh at the funny things she did.

Wherever you are in a time of grief I hope that soon you are able to remember without it hurting quite so much.

Introducing Talisker (suitably named because his fur is the colour of Talisker Whisky) - latest pet in our family - a new companion and friend for my daughter and her partner.

Talisker Distillery - only Distillery on the Isle of Sky

To you all - I send love and care and hope that you can find joy in the little things of life today and can share a kind word or deed with someone and perhaps have coffee with a friend who understands your heart.

Love and hugs and gratitude for visiting "The Musings of My Heart."

ONCE AGAIN IT'S RUBY TUESDAY

Rod Stewart - Goodbye Ruby Tuesday

Welcome to Ruby Tuesday - a special day for those who love the days of our week and make them special for whatever reason - I love Wednesdays - but I also love Ruby Tuesdays and try to make them special and fun days.

Ruby Tuesday is a Restaurant Chain in USA - Ruby Tuesday Grill and wouldn't it be fun to be there for dinner on a Ruby Tuesday.

This one is in North Carolina and I can imagine the singing and fun to be had there on Tuesdays.

I hope the sun is shining on your Ruby Tuesday and that whatever your plans for the day are I hope they go well and you can find joy in the little "ruby red" things of life.

I am well and rejoicing in mail from friends telling me of babies expected very soon - babies are such a joy and hold such promise.  If there is a baby in your life be sure to give some extra cuddles because those baby days are all gone too soon and then you are left with a walking talking little person, who all too soon becomes an adult and you wonder where the time went.

Ruby Tuesday made me think of colours this morning and in particular the colour red - lots of beautiful things are red - the blood that sustains us, fire engines that protect us, lipstick, cherries and strawberries, apples and red wine.  Tomatoes,  poppies, red letter days, cardinals and robins, cars (red ones go faster),
ladybirds, balloons, roses, lobsters, stop signs, radish and lovely little toy wagons.  Capsicums (bell peppers),
ribbons, old post boxes, old telephone boxes and not forgetting for even a moment Rudolph's nose.

See what is in your world in the colour red on this Ruby Tuesday and I am sure you will find things to warm you (red is a colour we associate with warmth, romance and love) and I hope all three of these things are in your life today.   The warmth from the sun or a snugly blanket or a smile from a stranger.  Romance in any form it comes and love in fullest measure given and returned to you.

Have a wonderful Ruby Tuesday and I hope that you can tell me you were singing the song - it is probably stuck in your head now.   Come on................join in:

She would never say where she came from
Yesterday don't matter if it's gone
While the sun is bright
Or in the darkest night
No one knows
She comes and goes

Goodbye, ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you...

Don't question why she needs to be so free
Shell tell you it's the only way to be
She just can't be chained
To a life where nothings gained
And nothings lost
At such a cost

There's no time to lose, I heard her say
Catch your dreams before they slip away
Dying all the time
Lose your dreams
And you will lose your mind.
Ain't life unkind?

Goodbye, ruby Tuesday
Who could hang a name on you?
When you change with every new day
Still I'm gonna miss you...

Loads of love and hugs to you and thank you for visiting "The Musings of My Heart" this Ruby Tuesday and I just ask that you remember the people of Joplin, Missouri (USA) in their time of trouble at the hands of the Tornado that has ripped through there.
