SPARKLE AND SHINE - IT'S RUBY TUESDAY

Welcome to Ruby Tuesday and "There is rich folklore that surrounds the ruby. Many amazing things have been said to be represented by the ruby. Integrity, devotion, happiness, healing are just some of the properties believed to belong to the ruby. And don't forget romance."

I hope that you have a "Ruby" day and are able to sparkle and shine in all facets of your life and that there is integrity, devotion, happiness and healing (and of course a little romance would be lovely.)

Our days can become quite crowded with the things we have to do and we can sometimes become lost in the whirlwind ride that is the business week.  I got caught up in that this morning with appointments and people running late.   My Blood Centre was almost an hour late opening because the Technician had overslept.   I wasn't a good thing and there were many waiting to for tests who were angry and upset.  I had a second appointment and was concerned I would be late ~ then I stopped and realized that this girl was going to be feeling bad enough without a tirade from patients.  Fortunately most of them left and went across to the Hospital.

She arrived and I had my bloods taken and with some nifty and rather fast driving I was at my next appointment only five minutes late.   No drama ~ it happens to all of us and it was a lesson in patience for me ~ unfortunately the others were too cross to learn the lesson.

I think I caught every red light possible, got caught up in School traffic and road works, and just decided to go with the flow, turn up my music and that Bette Midler and I may be late, but we would have enjoyed the music.

I hope that your days at your Office, your Classroom, your factory or wherever you work can be filled with some kindness and joy when you choose to sparkle and shine.   Let the world see your lovely smile, your dancing eyes and let them feel your pleasant and kindly ways.

Be grateful for your health, your workplace, your colleagues and those who have become friends ~ celebrate their milestones as they share them with you.  Work lunches can be very special and getting to know those you work with in a different environment can really work well for office harmony.

Know that those who send you off to the workplace, school place or wherever you have to go do so with love and care and wish for you easy days and pleasant hours.   Know that they love you and hold you close in thought until you are home again.

Life is very pleasant in Adelaide at the moment ~ the weather is warm but the nights are cool ~ beautiful autumn days and whilst Spring is making her presence felt in the northern hemisphere I had a message from my daughter in Scotland telling me  "It is snowing in Edinburgh" ~ they will be delighted to see snow although I don't suspect that would have been expecting it and probably have not packed accordingly.

My life is a whirl of appointments at the moment ~ I have a General Practitioner appointment tomorrow and then have cancelled Thursday's ~ I must learn to space them out a bit better than I have been doing.

My new glasses are available to collect and I have to get myself organized and get over to get them ~ and then Friday is Hot Cross Bun celebration here for friends and family and Easter is upon us.

My friend Vicki was buried today and she too was full of the spirit of Christmas and so to honour her I have a bowl on my table filled with pink Christmas balls, pink stars and pink hearts.   I also had balloons on my gate for her (pink again because Vicki lost her battle  with Breast Cancer) but not before a great fight

You can share your "Tinselitis" in Heaven Vicki and decorate all the Christmas Trees up there. You were a girl after my own heart with your love for Christmas Trees and I shall miss you.

The days just fly past but each one is appreciated and enjoyed ~ I am alive and well and  the seasons are changing and nights are darker earlier all part of the transition into winter for us.

Thank you for calling by to visit the Musings of My Heart ~ a grateful heart and a pensive one too.

Love and hugs,
Linda.

FRIDAY AND THE WIND BENEATH MY WINGS

Good Morning and welcome to Friday 13th. - another beautiful day with just another number - the sky is blue and there are gentle winds blowing here in Adelaide, and it is getting warmer again, which is to be expected because it is summer here in Australia.

It is Friday and I feel like I have been working all week and looking forward to the weekend - I had a day yesterday where I was singing slightly off key, but back in tune today and I am ready to fly again.   Ready to soar on the wings of an eagle and I am thankful for the wind beneath my wings.

It is an amazing feeling to know that despite wobble  that I have those who will catch me when I fall and truly are the wind beneath my wings.   Who help me fly, get my head on straight, turn my thinking around and settle me right back where I belong.

'It must have been cold there in my shadow
To never have sunlight on your face
You were content to let me shine, that's your way
You always walked a step behind

So I was the one with all the glory
While you were the one with all the strength
A beautiful face without a name for so long
A beautiful smile to hide the pain

Did you ever know that you're my hero
And everything I would like to be?
I can fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings

It might have appeared to go unnoticed
But I've got it all here in my heart
I want you to know, I know the truth, of course I know it
I would be nothing without you

Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be
I could fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings

Did I ever tell you you're my hero?
You're everything, everything I wish I could be
Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle
For you are the wind beneath my wings
'Cause you are the wind beneath my wings

Oh, the wind beneath my wings
You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings
Fly, fly, fly away, you let me fly so high
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings
Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings

Fly, fly, so high against the sky
So high I almost touch the sky
Thank you, thank you
Thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings."

There is an immense sense of calm for me knowing that when I get all "squirrelly" and out of tune, there is someone there to play the tune back to me so that I can sing in tune again.

There is a sad corner of my heart today - news came through yesterday about my friend Vicki and it is not good news.   Vicki has received news from her Oncologist that there is no more they can do for her, and she is fading fast.
Vicki has left footprints on my heart and has fought this cancer with every fibre of her being and now it is time to let her go.  I wish you a peaceful journey my friend and the knowledge that you were a great wife, a good mother and a wonderful friend.  May your heart be filled with love and peace and the knowledge that you will be missed.   Fly free my Angel you fought like a girl.

I sent you boxing gloves and called you "My Warrior Princess" and that's what you will always be to me - take the wings of an eagle and fly home, you fought long and hard and I am proud to have called you friend.

Give your friends a call, make time to meet, write a letter, just get in touch while you have the chance to do so - the time will come when it is too late - don't be left with things unsaid.

Enjoy another day of your journey and see the beauty all around you in our world - and there is so much of it.    Listen to laughter from children, watch a butterfly, walk barefoot in the grass, play in the rain or the snow.  Store up memories for they will serve you well.

I wish you love and laughter, health and happiness and may your cup run over with the pure joy of living.

Love and hugs and thanks for visiting The Musings from My Heart today - a contented but pensive heart today, with just a tinge of sadness.

Love and hugs,

SATURDAY MORNING - SUNSHINE, SHOPPING AND SENTIMENT

Come Saturday Morning - The Sandpipers

I love this song and the reason is that I was married on a Saturday Morning and my Father sang it to me as we waited for the time to pass ready to leave for the Church.

Saturday seems to be the only day that I have a particular routine in my otherwise "unbusy" week and it is shopping morning which I do early to avoid crowds - a. because of the noise and chaos in the supermarket, and b. to reduce the amount of people I have contact with in an attempt to keep myself free of infection.
Shopping involves taking anti bacterial wipes with me and wiping down the handles of the shopping trolley and at times I wear those thin gloves - it's not a great look, but it is all helping me stay alive.  It is not a big price to pay and I know there are others who do similar things - Our Friend Vicki would take her own cutlery with her if she were eating out but those days of eating out are over for her.

Vicki is in the advanced stages of Breast Cancer and is really struggling at the moment to breathe because of swelling and she is sleeping such a lot of the time.  She knows that her illness is terminal and was determined to be here to see her baby granddaughter born.   Olivia-Rose was born on March 27th. and time is running out for Vicki - please remember her in your prayers or send some positive healing and comforting vibes her way.  She got to meet Olivia-Rose and to hold her in her arms and I know that was so important to her.  The family is Peter and Vicki, Mallory, Sam and Olivia-Rose - they all need our prayers and love.
It saddens me that she will no longer be part of my life, but I shall always remember the courage and strength of the fight she put up.
She fought like a girl.
These are the Boxing gloves I often would send in messages to encourage her in her fight.  I know Vicki would want me to encourage you, order you, make you have a Mammogram and to seek further advice if you are not happy with the result.

It's Mother's Day tomorrow and it is a first Mother's Day for some, a special Mother's Day for others who are "infanticipating" and doubly so for those who are expecting twins. Celebrate Love, Mothers, Children, Families - celebrate Life itself.

May this be a special Mother's Day for those Mothers who can celebrate their child's life because of the wonders of medicine and surgery and and whose children have survived transplant and gone on to be healthy young people.  Two of these Mums are Dorie and Queisha and this time last Mother's Day their sons were in the very early days of Post Transplant and I am sure their hearts rejoice to be a year on.

Dorie and Queisha

I am sure that Crosby and Tater are very proud of you.

However you spend your Saturday - have fun, smile, sing, dance, splash in puddles.  if you have to work make the best of it and be pleasant to be with in your work place.  Life is beautiful, and although there are bumps in most roads, we are able to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and start all over again.
Find some space to enjoy your world - the beach, an orchard where trees are blossoming, a river with autumn leaves floating down.  Enjoy your coffee, enjoy your life. Enjoy Mother's Day.

Thanks for taking the time to visit "The Musings from My Heart" and for reading what's on my mind this morning.

Love and hugs,

"I am grateful for a helping hand at the Supermarket and the smile that came with it."
