BECAUSE I CAN

Welcome to Friday evening in Australia and a day that started off with steel grey sky and heavy mist ended up being quite sunny and pleasant. It was a busy day for me and only served to prove to me that I can't take these in and out of the car all day days.  I did achieve my goals and got all the things done I needed to.

I did my shopping early and on the way back to the car the most delightful little girl skipped along holding her Mother's hand - when her Mother asked her why she was doing it - she replied with a very big smile "Because I can.
This got me to thinking of the things we do just because we can.  The things we don't have to do, the things where there is no compulsion ~ it is done with just pure joy and spontaneity.  She then turned to her Mother and said "Mummy I love you' - it was nice to witness the pure joy of a child.   A lovely little person with no worries in the world who just gave in to the joy of the moment.

How special it is to be part of this - to do it ourselves - to just race down the stairs with someone, to splash in puddles with someone - all for just the pure joy of living and because we can.   It is very special to be able to tell someone "I love you" for no other reason than you do love them.   That they bring you joy and happiness and you want them to know that you care and are there for them.

Every one of us has a story to tell and is affected by the things that happen in our lives - we grieve, we are in pain, and we get very tired and it is not only in the sunshine that we need to feel loved, we need to feel the warmth of love and friendship under steel grey skies, when the thunder roars and storms gather.

Sometimes we get to the stage where we struggle with our jobs and commitments and it is then we need to rest, restore and recover. Those who love us will wrap us in a blanket of love and patiently wait for us to heal and we will in due time.

Music and laughter will return and we will again see beauty in our world for it is, after all a very beautiful world.   I have seen beauty in my world this week in the bud on a very early daffodil in my garden. the view from a rooftop garden in the City, the sight of our beautiful Adelaide Hills, shafts of sunlight between tall big city buildings.   I saw beauty today in the little girl at the shopping centre  - sweetly dressed in purple with little black boots and feet that could not help skipping along.   I enjoyed her free expression without any shyness - she was living her life and loving it.   Lessons to be learned there - don't worry I probably will not skip through the shopping centre car park but I most certainly will splash in puddles and kick through autumn leaves, roll up my pants and walk knee deep in the water at the beach, squish the sand between my toes and squeal when a big wave comes and makes me wet.

I will read stories to little children, growl like a bear and roar like a lion
BECAUSE I CAN.

I count my blessings each day - and remember with respect those days when I COULDN'T do so many things that have returned to be part of my life.  I can shop, I walk by the river, by the ocean, cook meals and celebrate with family.
I can stay up later at night without being a wreck the next day and I can celebrate life by talking with a friend on the other side of the world ` BECAUSE I CAN.

I enjoy writing letters and sending cards and making telephone calls - again BECAUSE I CAN.
I can drive friends to medical appointments (a complete reversal of how things were for me) and I can share love and laughter with those I love.
BECAUSE I CAN.

I can write at will, blog whenever I wish, make those phone calls to encourage those who are under par who will come back and will shine again ~ those who have been damaged by the hand that life has dealt and the viscous nature of some very hurtful people.

I can encourage those who are worried and be there for them no matter what and I will be and we will celebrate life again when the clouds blow away and the sun shines again,
BECAUSE I CAN.

Tomorrow is a beading class for me and I do it
BECAUSE I CAN.

Thank you for visiting the musings of a very pensive heart - one that will rejoice again soon and one for whom the melancholia will lift and the music will play again.

Love and hugs,
Linda.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT

Well, here it is at Monday
Another week has passed
For those with troubled times
I hope it's easier than the last.

The weather here is cold and bleak
The sky is pewter grey
An inside quiet time
And that's what I have done all day.

The promise of rain is with us
And I really shouldn't complain,
Our reservoirs are very low
And we really need the rain.

Joyous news of a friend's son
A lovely diamond ring,
Shining eyes and laughter
And hearts that really can sing.

Special family times and laughter
The promise of days ahead,
Looking at a grown up child
And seeing the man instead.

Life for me is very sweet
Phone calls from my team,
Great relief from everyone
That things were not what they seem.

My fingers have clicked and danced
Over my keyboard today
And many the thoughts that I have penned
And the joy that's come my way.

I talked on the phone
And balanced my bank account,
Paid some bills on line
With just the right amount.

I think of my friends in summer
With the heat, humidity and such,
I really don't envy them their weather,
I don't like it very much,

As I come to the end of my day
And evening is drawing nigh
I think of those who sleep
Beneath a velvet sky.

I wish you sweet and peaceful sleep
And a gentle healing rest,
Be strong and take good courage
For when you are put to the test.

If you are on holidays my friend
I wish you restful hours,
Some time reading and sleeping
Some time to smell the flowers.

My heart is full of many things
Laughter, love and peace,
I wish you all of these things
And days of sweet release.

Thank you for calling by
To read the Musings from my Heart,
It is special to me that you visit
And take some time set apart.

Love and hugs,
Linda.

WEDNESDAY THOUGHTS AND MUSINGS

mus·ing
adj.
Deep in thought; contemplative.
n.
1. Contemplation; meditation.
2. A product of contemplation; a thought.

Welcome to Wednesday afternoon and today has been picture perfect - blue sky, wispy white clouds, a gentle breeze, thoughts and an imagination that has run wild with me for most of the day.

I have travelled many miles on my journey today and seen many things and done lots of exciting things ~ I have painted word pictures for most of my day.  I have just found my morning coffee on my desk ~ ~ stone cold and not even missed, that's how preoccupied I have been.

I love those days when words just flow and they sure beat the days when I sit and look at a blank screen and can't put words together.  It is rather like an artist with palate in hand and canvas on the easel and a world waiting.

I know there are many of you suffering with illness, pain of grief or just struggling to get your life back together after some major event.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Life changes and I was very much aware of that yesterday.   Sometimes the sheer pain of missing someone so much makes you just want to reach out and grab them and hold on and never let go.   Sadly, those things cannot happen and that's why we have and use memory.   We can recall at the fun and fabulous times, the laughter, the tears, the sound of voices and we can almost feel the touch of a hand.

It is important that we do move on and make new memories and there is so much we can do and so much that can be part of our new memories.   We can embrace old and new friends and share our thoughts with them.    I think that's why I like to write because it tells people where this complicated and complex mind of mine has been.

I wrote this today after I had looked at a lovely blue sky and thought of someone very special

TODAY

Today is picture perfect
The sky is a gentle blue
Just the special type of day
To spend some hours with you.
Let's sit beside the river
And watch the ripples as they flow
Onward and forward they travel
To where we cannot know.

Let's find some shade from the sun
And feel the gentle breeze,
Treasured memories are gathered
On Autumn days like these.
Let's whisper deepest secret thoughts
Discussion without fears,
Let's laugh and talk and ponder
Let's wipe away the tears.

Autumn leaves we can gather
And release them on the flow
Just like our innermost thoughts
Who knows where they will go.
Will they bounce up the crest
Or be taken down below
Will our shared thoughts be deep ~
Only we can ever know.

Let's drag sticks through the water
And find some leafy glade,
A special time of friendship
We'll be glad that we have stayed.
We will remember the sunshine
The shade and the trees,
We will remember today
And the making of memories.

So when the shadows lengthen
And there is a coolness in the air,
The pain of ending this rendezvous
Will be much too much to bear.
But as days go hastening on
And the seasons change once more,
We can always revisit this day
By stepping through memory's door.

March 7th. 2012

My illness and hospitalization took away my writing for many many weeks and oh the joy and rapture of being able to sit and click click click away on a new creation ~ it is so very special.

I absolutely love the changing of the seasons and the first time of being aware of the change, when the shadows lengthen, the morning comes later and cool and gentle breezes blow.

Wherever you are in our beautiful world I hope that for you there is an awareness of just how lovely it is and how special to take time to go outside, sit in the garden, walk by the river and just admire an azure sky.

Today it is dinner out with friends and that will be lovely ~ just a simple Pub meal and good conversation on all sorts of levels and then maybe an evening of crossword puzzles and laughter.

My life is blessed and I live confidently in the knowledge that I have so much to learn yet and that I have those who will share their knowledge, their understanding and their affection.   I am blessed indeed.

Take care as you travel this mid week day at work, at home, on the road, or like me at a desk ~ find joy in the little things and feel the love there is all around you.

Thank you for visiting the Musings of my Heart ~ today a happy and thankful heart.

Love and hugs,
Linda.
