DREAM WITH ME

Good Afternoon from my little corner of the world where the day is sunny and bright with blue sky and no clouds and a very pleasant cool temperature.
A very pretty day indeed.

A much quieter day for me - no children today so the silence is deafening but compensated with lovely music.

Come sit with me and we'll talk about our dreams - we all have dreams, some more than others.   Dreams, hopes, wishes, plans and schemes.

I'll share the things I dream about and hope for and perhaps it will stir your thoughts and you can open your mind and see what your dreams are.

I dream of a world where children can run free and play in meadows with streams and flowers, where they are safe from harm.   Where every adult is a caring soul and looks out for them.

I dream of a world without war where everyone can live peacefully and happily without greed and violence and have enough food and clean water to drink.   Where disease is unknown and children can grown up into peace loving adults.

Greed does not appear in my dreams - I dream of a place where there is sharing and caring and equality and where the colour of our skin matters not and we all live with respect for our religions and cultural issues.

I dream of a place where people will take turns and wait and the "me me me" culture does not exist.  Where babies are cherished and loved and never abused, where there is always an adult to care for them.

Medical care is abundant in my dreams and there is no bickering about financial costs, where it is safe to walk the streets day or night.  A place where one can ask for help without the fear of abuse.

I dream of a world full of pencils and paper and books and wonderful teachers, where everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

I dream of a world where I can have trust in the word of my Government, where all people are equal and where the rich don't get richer and the poor poorer.  A place where justice prevails and everyone is treated fairly.
Where there are jobs for all and appropriate training is provided.

In the world I dream about people use manners and have respect and will always do a kind deed.   Where everyone acknowledges that we all carry a burden of some kind and will offer kindness and as helping hand.

Wouldn't it be a wonderful world ?

I clearly acknowledge that I can't change the world, but what I can do is to make life sweeter, kinder and happier in my little corner of it.   I resolve to do this - to laugh a little more, to be kinder, more loving and giving and I believe if we all do this, the world will be a better place.   Share what you can of yourself, give a smile as you pass someone in the shopping centre - you may well be the only contact they have for that day.  Be generous with your time, stop and talk with someone, offer to fetch something for a neighbour, to check their mail, water their garden - just the simple things in life.

I hope this makes you think of your dreams and helps you to put into action a plan to make your little corner of the world a little happier, brighter and kinder.

Thank you for visiting The Musings of My Heart  - a hopeful heart today and I wish you well as you share your dreams and live your hopes.,

Love and hugs,

WALK BOLDLY IN THE DIRECTION OF YOUR DREAMS

Good Afternoon - welcome to Ruby Tuesday in my City where the sun has shone for most of the day and the air has been warm and pleasant.
We did have cloud this afternoon and I think that kept the temperature down for us.   However by the end of the week we can expect a return to winter with rain and cold temperatures.   Mother Nature is indeed fickle.

I spent the morning pulling weeds from my front garden and felt the pain of bending for most of the afternoon, but there is certainly an improvement.    A friend helped me and it is always easier when there are two of you and you can talk as you work.

I love flowers and pretty gardens, but must confess that gardening is not my favourite pastime, but I am left with a feeling of satisfaction for a job well done and the green waste bin was filled very quickly.

Most of our spring flowers have finished now, but the blossoms and daffodils were beautiful and for a few short weeks the streets were lined with pink blossoming trees.

It has been a nice day - but a day when I will be glad to climb into bed and read for a while and then hopefully off to sleep.   I did think of a nap this afternoon but decided against it in the hope that I shall slip into the arms of Morpheus tonight and sleep well.

The weeks are moving along quite quickly and we are now approaching the time of the Royal Adelaide Show - 9 days of bringing the farm to the city - of rides, exhibitions, samples and crowds who gather to spend lots of money, become very tired and usually watch a fireworks display in the evening.

There will be events such as cow judging, wood chopping, Show Jumping and displays with sheep, cattle, pigs and goats.  Handicrafts are displayed and it is quite the celebration.  I shall be working on two days for Donate Life, spreading the word about organ donation.

I know that many of you have busy lives and only get to dream occasionally - but please dream dreams and dream big and then go confidently in the direction of your dreams and make them come true.

To those off on holidays - Bon Voyage, Happy Trails and be safe - but mostly enjoy the scenes, smells, and sights of new cities.   Enjoy your flights and get lots of rest during the flight so that you have energy for sightseeing.

Thank you for visiting the Musings of My Heart and I wish you sweet and peaceful dreams when your night time comes.

Love and hugs,

HITCH YOUR WAGON TO A STAR

It's Monday evening and here I am doing a blog post before bedtime after what has been a beautiful winter day.    The sky was blue, there were white fluffy clouds and the sun shone for most of the day.   A perfect day to get laundry done and out on the line to dry.  I did some cryptic crossword puzzles with a friend and generally enjoyed the day.

This first herald of spring was gracing my garden when I looked out there this morning - a truly beautiful daffodil and a special gift which I cherish.

I was part of a mid year "Christmas in July" gift exchange between a group of online friends and my Secret Santa gift arrived today and I was very pleased.

I received three pink pens (Santa must know me very well) some small Christmas cards, Christmas tree earrings and three lovely frames for photographs/Christmas images - It was a a lovely gift and much appreciated.

When I am alone I often do much thinking - and I was thinking of the plans we make, the places we go, the people we meet.  Alexis and Naomi have made plans and reservations for their holiday later in the year and are very excited about it.  I know they will have a wonderful time, but it is great for me to see their excitement and hear them talk of what they are going to do.

Others have plans for special holidays and it brings me such joy to hear of their plans because I know how much these holidays are needed and wanted.
They will be grand adventures and times of fun, and also for others time out away from the extreme stresses of how life has been ~ such wonderful plans and excitement all round.   Sometimes I think the planning and the anticipation is just as exciting as the times away.

It is the fulfillment of dreams - that hitching the wagon to a star and setting off for the great unknown, with all the necessary precautions taken, the butterflies in the tummy and the stars in the eyes.

What plans do you have for holidays and grand adventures?   Is there somewhere in the deep recesses of your heart a dream that need hitching to a star?   I hope that you are able to hitch the wagon and take the journey.

My Father was a seafaring man and he was never quite settled when he was shore bound - he always claimed he was "born under a wandering star"

Listen to Lee Marvin sing "I was born under a wandering star" ~ I did and it brought lovely memories of a movie out with my Father.

Memories are sweet as are the memories in the making with all the lovely plans ~  Whatever your plans are I hope that you are having a wonderful time making the memories and then when you do get to go on your trip - making real memories will be wonderful.

Hitch your wagon to a star and follow your dreams - and thank you for visiting the musings of my heart - a heart filled with lots of memories and other memories in the planning.

Love and hugs,
Linda

THIS MOMENT

Welcome to Sunday in my little corner of the world where Mother Nature is wearing a gown of silver grey and hiding her smile today.   It has been cloudy since yesterday afternoon and we therefore missed seeing the Supermoon in all it's glory.  I was disappointed to have missed that and then realized while I was being miffed at not being able to share the beauty of it ~ I was missing so many other things.     Sure I couldn't see the moon in a crystal clear sky, but I could see the beautiful cloud formations and the wind whisking the clouds along across the moon and that was beautiful in itself.  I could feel the gentle wind that was blowing and smell the damp earth that comes with autumn days.   All simple but very beautiful things that are there if I will be present to the moment.

A restless night for me meant an early start to the day and a long distance phone call in the middle of my night got my head on straight again and I was again present to the moment and able to go back to my bed and get some more sleep.   When I finally did rouse and get out of my bed I felt that Sunday had started without me ~ but I have caught up now and all is well.    I realized that even though it was ten o'clock in the morning and I was still in my nightdress and robe, that the world would not go into a holding pattern and that it was okay to be a little lazy - a big lesson to learn for one who is usually showered, dressed and ready to face the day by 6.00.a.m.

Busy days often mean a preoccupation and times when we do not listen carefully to what is being said - or what is not being said - it is important that we really try to be present to the moment as the moment is really all we have.  Cherish the time with those you love and don't forget to be sure they know that you love them.

I was going to take a walk at the River today, but have decided that can wait until tomorrow when I am less tired.   The leaves will be turning and the reeds bending and quivering in the water and there will be ducks and other water birds all waiting for me tomorrow and each autumn day.   Today I need to be at home and be present to my own surroundings,  I have lots of things to do, lots I could do but won't and lots I would like to do   I am content with what I achieve and I no longer stress about things I just don't get done.

Music is my companion today  - lots of  lovely pieces ~ some with vocals and some just soul stirring music and the hours go quickly as I listen.   I watch very little television, numerous DVDs but generally find music and radio my companions.   I play music in the car and there is usually a collection of Cd's to be selected from..

“We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.”

I am a dreamer , that I know for certain and a romantic through and through ~ so yes I am a music maker and a dreamer of dreams.

Wherever you are in your part of the world I hope that you can find some time to be a music maker, a dreamer of dreams and to be present to the moments of your life.

Thank you for visiting the Musings of My Heart - a contemplative but happy heart today.

Love and hugs,
Linda.

THEY CALL ME A DREAMER

"We savour life's simple joys, for the we are the dreamers,
The silent music makers
And the followers of fancy."

Welcome to Friday evening and the end of a truly beautiful autumn day in Adelaide and one I have taken very quietly ~ I have been a dreamer ~ a silent music maker and have enjoyed my day here at the keyboard, collecting mail and talking on the telephone for a good part of the day.   Alexander Graham Bell is a star as far as I am concerned with his invention of the telephone,   In just a few moments with the push of some buttons I can be across the suburbs or across the world.   I travel across time and space and love the interaction of it all.

There is not much I don't like about communication ~ I love email, blogging, messaging, text messages, quick local phone calls and long and lovely interstate and international calls.   I would prefer to go without my dinner than without my phones or Internet.

I collected very special mail this morning from the Post Office, along with a not so nice bill ~ but twice this week there has been international mail in my box and it has brought such great joy.
I did some shopping before coming home to enjoy the opening of my letter  (the bill could wait) and I was delighted with the wax sealed parchment letter that was inside the bubble pack.  Old fashioned sealing wax and a letter written with ink on beautiful parchment ~ back to the days of scribes and writers and it was pure delight to receive, open and read.  Breaking the seal was a challenge as I felt it was too nice to open ~ but I did and I am glad I did.   The letter was filled with the wonder of living in possibility and the sheer joy of living and loving.

The mail and phone calls have been a wonderful release and comfort to me ~ Jenny and I always have long conversations and put the world to right and it is wonderful to have friends like that.  Friends who love me for just what I am and during today's long chat with Jennifer, she shared with me how dreadfully worried she was when I was so ill.  I think I was too ill to care about worrying but seems lots of my friends did it for me.

I am looking forward to a quiet Saturday and maybe a movie on Sunday with "The Golden Girls".
Mary has returned to her mountain at Murwillumbah and will each day look out of her windows onto Mount Warning and be happy.  It was time for her to go home for medical appointments and they can't wait.

However you spend your weekend and wherever you are - take some time to stop and really see things around you - the turning of the autumn leaves, the waking up of the world to springtime, wherever you are in our beautiful world.  There is joy to be had in a small and intimate cafe by the shore and with a small table near a crackling fire and shelter from the rain, or digging in the earth and setting the pattern for summer flowers.   Do some cooking with the little children in your life, take them for a walk or to the playground ~ listen to their squeals of laughter as you run and play with them.    Store this memories deep in your hearts and they will last you for a long time.
Be sure to read them stories and relive your own childhood fancies.   Blow bubbles with them or fly a kite ~ go back to your own childhood days and share them with this generation.

Dream, imagine and live in possibility and hope and I thank you for visiting the musings of my heart ~ a quiet and much loved heart that is thankful for life itself.

Love and hugs,
Linda.

THANKFUL THURSDAY - DREAM, HOPE, WISH , LOVE AND BELIEVE

The Bachelors - I Believe.

Good afternoon from my little corner of the world, where the sun is shining and the sky is blue and all is well.
I have had morning of work and my chairs are all back in place after having a spring shampoo and the tablecloths are freshly laundered.  These tasks kept me from posting earlier, but I am comfortable with that.

Here we are again at Thankful Thursday and I do have a song in my heart and a spring in my step.  The words on the heading of this post are wonderful words to live by  - we all have dreams and hopes and wishes and long for love and we all need to believe.

I have experienced kindness, care, dreams, wishes, hope, love and I do believe.   I believe that we are stronger than we think we are, that there are dreams that do come true.  I have learned to love, hope, wish and I am buoyed along my journey by others who share these things.  It sure makes the path a lot smoother as we journey through life.

Lots going on in my circle of friends - Ros is off to hospital tomorrow for eye surgery and I wish this brave lady all the very best.  Others are grieving and coping will ongoing illnesses and feeling quite alone and stressed.  If your life is touched with pain, sadness and trouble at home or in your work place - my thoughts are with you and I hope that you are equal to the task.  Michelle my thoughts are with you as you struggle with a workplace issue.

My coming weekend has done a complete turn around - what was to be a full day at a jewellery class has been cancelled and other plans changed, but as it is going to be hot I shall be very content to be at home and will get some Christmas craft done.  I don't mind quiet days and I may even shop on Friday so that I have two full days at home.

I can't believe I didn't introduce this little poppet before - this is the beautiful baby girl of the nurse who took me to theatre for my Transplant.

Please meet Olivia Grace

Isn't she a darling baby? Look at those perfect cupid bow lips.

I have an appointment at Flinders tomorrow afternoon and will talk with the dietitian then about cholesterol control so that will be an interesting afternoon.

There was a funeral I would like to have attended this afternoon, but had a nasty headache so preferred not to drive.  Farewell Geoffrey - I am sure your family and friends would have sent you off in grand style.
My thoughts are with the whole family.

There really isn't much more news for today - life is good and friends are kind and sweet and I have the love of family to get me through my days.

I hope that you believe and that you are strong as you take your journey and I thank you for visiting "The Musings of My Heart"

Love and hugs,
Linda.

MONDAY - SOMETIMES WHEN I'M DREAMING

Winter Dreaming - © Josephine Wall
Katie Melua - Sometimes when I'm Dreaming

Good Morning and welcome to Monday morning in my little corner of the world.  The sun is shining and the sky is blue - breakfast of grilled cheese and coffee.  Tablets taken and I am ready to face the day.

The link to the music today takes us to the world of Katie Melua - a beautiful young lady with an enchanting voice - I often play her songs and this is only one of many I love.

Another favourite of mine is "I Cried for You"

Another weekend gone and closer to Christmas time - I can't believe how quickly this year has gone.  The fact that it has flown indicates to me that I am content and certainly not bored. It indicates that I have filled my days with many things - writing, reading, and now recently beading.  The beading comes at a time when there is obviously more space in my mind and heart to be open to accept something new.  I had a glorious day yesterday perusing on line sites selling all things beading. I am looking forward to learning to make earrings - I have a daughter who is keen for that too and an other daughter who says - lovely for you Mum and for Rebecca but it's not for me.

It fascinates me how two girls with the same Father and Mother can be so different and yet so alike.  They are very different in their skills, ambitions, hopes and dreams but there is a very beautiful affinity and friendship.   There is a real care between them and when I was so ill that brought me comfort knowing that no matter what happened they would have each other.

I have been dreaming more lately - or it seems that way and I am also able to recall those dreams.  I have always been a Day Dreamer - always been gazing out of classroom windows and off in a different world, only to be brought back to reality by a very frustrated teacher.  I very often was moved in class away from the window but I still managed to transport myself to other places in my mind.

I have used that day dreaming skill many times in my life to take me away from stressful situations and times when I was not comfortable with what was happening to me.  During my months in hospital that skill was finely honed and I often took myself away from what was actually happening to me.  Pain often brought me back to reality but it had been sweet release to be away from things.   I call it mind travelling and oh the many journeys I took and the places I visited. It certainly helped me through difficult days.

I hope your sleep pattern is better than mine - and that you are able to slip into a deep and untroubled sleep at night and that your dreams are sweet and pleasant.

If you are a day dreamer like me - make the most of it - travel back to earlier days and relive the beautiful times, spectacular places and conversations and interludes from long ago times.

I think being able to do this means I can hold those no longer with me a little closer, there are times when I can almost hear my Father's voice, his face is etched in my memory.

I can understand how dreams can be frightening to children - often I had the strangest dreams when on huge amounts of drugs - and they were scary dreams and yet so very real.

I hope you are ready to face another week or work/leisure and that you feel rested from the weekend and the memory of all the things you did.  I was blessed to be able to find creativity and to enjoy an evening with friends.

I noticed this morning that it was lighter a little earlier and that the days are getting longer which means that spring and summer are on their way.   I love the changing of the seasons - the way they just roll on from year to year - soon it will be much too hot for me but that is part of life in "The Land Down Under" and I shall have to deal with it.

Wherever you are - find some beauty in your world, dream a dream or two, stir your memory and enjoy your life.

Thank you for visiting "The Musings from My Heart" and I hope your dreams are sweet and pleasant.

Love and hugs,
Linda.
