SILVER GREY CLOUDS ON SUNDAY MORNING

Welcome to Sunday Morning in my little corner of the world and where I am the sky is silver grey with darker pewter coloured clouds and a cold stiff breeze blowing.   I really like the quiet of Sunday mornings and the heavy cloud seems to make that quiet even more intense and although I suspect the roads are busy, where I am there is peace.  I am not far from the beach and may this afternoon go and spend some time there with the cold salt sea air and the plaintive cry of the gulls for company.

I have this morning spent some time with Grace and Henry who are growing up so fast.  Grace went to the Football with Papa Ray yesterday and seemed to enjoy it very much - (although she did tell me quietly it was a bit boring).  The children have grown in the weeks since I saw them last and they are keeping their parents on their toes.  Fortunately they travel well as they are in the car such a lot traveling to and from Adelaide.

I was able to witness some papers for Melinda and to share sweet buns from Baker's Delight with them all.  It is lovely from time to time to step back from adulthood and to see the world through the eyes of a child and find joy in the most basic of things.   Colouring books and pencils, construction sets and Lego and of course soft fluffy toys

On this Mother's Day I think about you all - those of you who are Mothers,
Expectant Mothers, those who miss their Mother and those for whom this day is difficult.   My particular thoughts are with Donor Mothers whose loved one's gift has enabled people like me to spend time as a Mother to my daughters.
Mother's Day could well have been very different for my girls, thankfully an unselfish act of kindness means they have their Mother with them still.

Some of you are celebrating Mother's Day as a first time Grandmother and I hope the new arrival in your family brings all the joy in the world to you.

I drove past a flower stand and they were very busy and as I passed The Cheesecake Shop they were doing a roaring trade as people collected cakes for luncheon celebrations.

My family celebrations will take place next weekend but I have spoken with both of my daughters and I understand that life gets busy at times for everyone and commitments with partner's family make all getting together at the same time difficult.   At times it is a bigger production that Ben-Hur.

I don't need a special day to celebrate - I have so much to celebrate each and every day.

I celebrate life and love,
kindness
care
friendship
Motherhood
family and so many other wonderful things.

Thinking of you all as you move through your Sunday and wishing you calm and peaceful thoughts.

Love and hugs,
Linda.

WELCOME TO SUNDAY WITH A PRAYERFUL HEART

Good Afternoon and welcome to my very warm world where the sun is beating down and the atmosphere is full of an impending summer storm.   I love Sunday mornings when the world is a little quieter and there is almost a feeling of calm.A quiet inside day for me with air conditioning singing away nicely and keeping me cool.

In some lives right now there is far from calm ~  I am overwhelmed this morning by the number of people for whom there is no peace right now.  My friend Nicole's Mum died yesterday and has left Nicole and Angel quite shattered - it was expected but nevertheless a big shock when it comes.

I have sick friends who are in real trouble and need my prayers and love and I give that unconditionally and gladly.   When you talk to whatever Deity you espouse there are few names you could mention ~ Kristy, David, Jeanne, McKenzie and McKenzie and Tater and Crosby and all struggling in one way or another.

I love sharing and giving gifts and my gift for you today is love and care wrapped in hope and tied with the ribbons of friendship.   If I could have my way there would be a package at every doorstep everyday just because I care, but that can't be - but I can share love and kindness with you all and I do.  I can give you the gift of concern and friendship.

This is a poem I wrote for Christmas some years ago, but it is equally relevant at any time of year and as I suffer from (endure and enjoy) "Obsessive Christmas Disorder" it is fine to post it.

MY CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR YOU.

If I had the wings of an angel
And could have my wishes come true,
These are the things I would wish ~
And these would be my gifts for you.

PEACE
Peace of heart and mind
In a world where love abounds.
I wish you gentle quiet days
Where kindness and friendship is found.

LOVE
Love of friends and family ~
A tender gentle touch,
A smile, a gentle caring word
Which says “I care so much.”

COMPASSION
I wish for you compassion
To hear another’s cry.
To reach out and help someone ~
Or at least the courage to try.

STRENGTH
I hope that you can find the strength
To carry on in days of pain,
I hope that strength is your umbrella
To shelter you from rain.

COURAGE
I wish you the courage to stand alone
For the things that stir your soul.
I wish you a sweet and blessed faith
Which allows you to be whole.

These the gifts I would choose for you
And I’d tie them with ribbons of love
I would wrap them in friendship’s special care

WELCOME TO A WINTER WEDNESDAY

Dean Martin - Baby It's Cold Outside.

Welcome to Wednesday morning in my cold little corner of the world. The temperatures have been lower because the sky has been clear and not a lot of cloud cover - and Baby It's cold outside.

I am snug and warm with coffee at hand and was lovely and warm during the night in my snuggly bed.  I am blessed indeed with all the things I have to keep me warm:  warm bed, heating, warm clothes, homemade soups (chicken and sweet corn this time and plans for leek and potato soon) and casseroles and of course hot and sweet coffee.

I have an inner warmth too when I think that on this day 80 weeks ago I received such a special gift of life - 80 weeks my where has the time gone?  I think lots of it has gone in the blur of the initial healing process and hospital stay and the rest gone quickly in the sheer joy of being alive.

I had plans to visit a friend this morning but she has just messaged me that she is off to the Doctor so those plans are put off until another day.  The only thing I have to do is visit the Post Office to collect mail and perhaps a little shopping.

Lots of email to answer so I will be settling for being inside and being warm.   I did prune some roses yesterday and the plants that usually give me such beautiful blooms and such pleasure now stand bare and looking bleak.   Spring will fix that though.  In fact in some parts of our State there are signs of spring already with the almond blossom starting. Hang on - its too soon for change of season I am only just getting used to this one.

Crazy day today - made alternate plans and they have been changed too - so an at home day for me.  An ordinary day - and oh how I love them - there were times when I ached, cried and yearned for them.    Thinking a nice Pub Meal would be nice this evening - cold outside, but warm in the car and inside too.

I hope your day is a good one and that you have an ordinary day in many ways - a day without crisis or calamity.  My phone has been busy this morning and again I am grateful for the wonderful technology that brings the world to my door.

I wish you love and laughter, sunshine and flowers and a diamond studded sky and all the things that bring joy to your heart.

Thanks for dropping by to read "The Musings of My Heart" and for your friendship and support.

Love and hugs,
