MAGICAL MONDAY

Good evening and I am late with this post and I have no reason to be late apart from the fact that I have been doing other things.   My day in this city started early  and dawn brought another grey start to our day, but by late morning Mother Nature had drawn the grey curtain aside and was shining rather well.  We did have a few showers during the afternoon, but generally it was warm and pleasant.

My trip to the Post Office was futile as nothing there, and it took a while too with all the roadworks going on around us - and I encountered a nasty traffic accident at the corner - so that slowed things down even further.

Visitors and phone calls have been a big part of my day but then so too has laughter and music and lovely poetry shared with love.  How special is the technology we use  which allows us to send words and pictures around the world almost instantly and to be able to call someone up on their computer and talk face to face just blows my mind.  To be able to share things and show things a world away is amazing and very special.  I believe in magic - maybe that's why I find it.

I find magic in the Mail Service too - although at times it doesn't work fast enough for my liking - I find magic in that I can put things in an envelope and seal them and send them on their way and generally they arrive safely and someone on the other side of the world can open and enjoy them.

I find magic in music and the lovely lyrics, I find magic in being able to laugh with someone at myself and to enjoy shared laughter.  I find magic in poetry ~ some written long ago and some "hot off the press" and some written from a loving and caring heart and which carries deep and sincere meaning.

I find magic in the sunrise, the sunset and the waxing and waning of the moon..  I find magic in dark brown and damp earth that will nurture my bulbs and bring them to fruition.   I find magic in glitter and spangles and sparkles ~ they brighten my day .   I find magic in the laughter of children, the good companionship of coffee with a friend, a good book to read in bed. I find magic in a surprise parcel or letter waiting for me at the Post Office.

Generally I can find magic all around me because I believe it is there.   I hope that in your world there is magic and that you are able to believe and find it.,

Wishing you a Monday filled with magic, green traffic lights, coffee your didn't have to make yourself, a surprise phone call or a letter, and good news you have been waiting for.

Thank you for visiting the Musings of My Heart - a heart today filled with the magic of so much of life and also gratitude for life itself.

IT IS THANKFUL THURSDAY

Welcome to Thankful Thursday and it has been a roller coaster ride of high and low emotions this past week, but here I am on Thankful Thursday with a Thankful Heart.

I really do have so much to be thankful for ~ all the material things in my life and all the little cute, glittery and sparkly things that are simple but make days brighter.  For letters and cards that arrive in the mail ~ those lovely hand written letters straight from hand to hand and the parcels that keep me guessing while I wait for their arrival.  So many special things and so many forms of communication and I am thankful for the technology that brings these things to me.  Four days for a letter from Adelaide to America - better than we can manage across suburbs here in Adelaide.

The simple things ~ stickers of butterflies and fairies on the envelopes that make the joy of receiving these extra special.   The delight at sitting down and reading the letters and imagining where they were written  ~ one came from a bench along side a sand dune on a winter afternoon, while the cold winds blew and the sea birds were calling.

I am thankful too for moments of silliness and feeling comfortable and safe enough to be silly  ~ this provides such exquisite laughter and pure joy.

There are so many things to be thankful for ~ my health, the success of my transplant and that of my friend, for the lives of two friends who lost the battle recently ~ they blessed and graced my life with joy and leave beautiful memories.

There is so much in my heart and my life ~ for my friends and their kindnesses to me ~ the love and laughter we share and the anticipation of my daughter and son-in-law as they leave to travel overseas on Saturday.

The joys of family gatherings to celebrate birthdays and High Days and Holidays ~ I am thankful for life itself and for those who join my on my journey ~ the joy is in the journey and life is a journey not a destination.

Thank you for visiting the Musings from My Heart and you are cause for gratitude too ~ you who call by to read and visit this page ~ a full and thankful heart today.

Love and hugs,
Linda.

WELCOME TO WEDNESDAY ~ SWING HIGH, SWING LOW.

Welcome to Wednesday in my little corner of the world where the sun is shining and the earth looking very refreshed after overnight rain.   My lawns were cut on Monday and I swear they have grown some by this morning.

My friend Kristy is free of pain and home safe ~ she took the wings of the morning on a rainy night in Texas and left us ~ she loved rainy nights so it was appropriate that the heaven's wept at her passing.

Kristy

Please hold her family close in your thoughts and prayers - particularly her daughters Addison and Sydney ~ I shall miss this beautiful soul but I rejoice that her pain is over and feel blessed that she touched my life.  Fly Free my friend you were very loved.

The empty swing represents the empty space in my life ~ but what a beautiful image that is ~ I can imagine swinging over there and dragging my feet in the water and feeling the gentle breezes blow.

I have had a couple of frustrating days with Delivery companies and Government Departments and it has made me tired, but only because I gave in and allowed it to frustrate and upset me.  I certainly became Miss Cranky Pants for a while there but that was yesterday and yesterday's gone.

Some of you are feeling unwell and a little worried while you wait for test results and I understand that very well ~ try to relax and know that it will happen in good time,  Plans may have to be changed to accommodate surgery for some of you and I hope you can "Keep calm and Carry On" until you know the results of your tests.   My love and care and understanding is with you.    Please keep me in the loop so I know what is happening for you.

Our days are shorter and night time comes earlier for us and for my northern Hemisphere friends it is Officially Spring (although Mother Nature has been dancing in your gardens for some weeks now) ~ now it's official no more dance rehearsals IT IS SPRING.

I hope your hearts can dance with the daffodils and enjoy the glorious awakening of plants and flowers, and I hope you are able to be out in the fresh air and sunshine and do some gardening (or watch the family as they do it.)

I have had lots of lovely mail and cards and my heart rejoices at the pure delight of a letter written by hand and filled with news and beautiful thoughts.  Today's card was full of images of sea shells and  words about the ocean and the shoreline.  A treat indeed.

I have touched base with someone I have missed for a while and today received an Easter card from New Zealand with a picture of the ship that brought my friend and my family and me to Australia and New Zealand.  Memories are wonderful.   Brian and I have been friends for 51 years ~he was 23 and I was 13 when we met on the deck of the "Strathaird" as she pulled out from London's Tilbury Dock on a very windy day in March.

I hope that you have had letters and phone calls and that life is sweet for you ~ it is for me and I hope that wherever you are there is joy in your journey in spite of pain and illness.

Thank you for visiting the Musings of My Heart ~ today a heart filled with letters and memories.

Love and hugs,
Linda.

No music today - seems to be a problem with the music site.

ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL SUMMER MORNING - welcome to Wednesday

Good Morning and welcome to Wednesday in the antipodes.   We are a world apart from our northern hemisphere friends who still enjoy Tuesday.   The morning has broken quiet and still and with a very overcast sky and I just caught on the radio that rain is to visit us today.   Our very thirsty gardens will enjoy that!

The sun is trying to peep through the clouds and that reminds me very much of life and how when the dark clouds beset us there is often just a tiny ray of sunshine that comes through and as the time moves on the whole sky clears and the sun shines once again.

I had a beautiful day yesterday - filled with love, flowers, music and laughter and I know how very much I am blessed.  I hope your days are filled with sunshine and love.

My cat is lying fully stretched out in the sun and warmth and I can see a gentle breeze playing with her fur - she has a good life.   Eating, sleeping and just being herself.  I just wish she would forgive me for leaving her when I was in hospital.    We are friends again, but she is very careful not to let me know I am forgiven.   Pets can and do bring such joy to our lives and I hope you have the comfort of a pet to give you unconditional love and a warm welcome when you walk through the door.

I have been writing a lot these past days and I wish I could express the joy that it brings to my soul and heart - my writing is the outpouring of a loving and caring heart and the things that touch my life.  I used to keep a diary and write in it daily, but haven't done that for a couple of years and I am not sure I will go back to it.   I do however keep a diary of dates and appointments and it came clear to me yesterday when I checked in there, that there are lots of empty pages where there have been no appointments and that made me smile.  My next Clinic appointment is March 2nd. and that will mean bloods on 27th. February after a three month break.   I am feeling well and quite certain all is going well, but I shall be relieved when the blood test results come in.  These dates mean I have two weeks before I step back on the treadmill of appointments and clinics.   No complaints for me though   - I am alive and well and loving my life.

To those of you who are ill or have family members and friends who are undergoing a stay in hospital I send love and care and hopes for better days ahead.   If you have a loved one in hospital - call them it will make a difference to their day ~ it will keep them in touch with the world and isolation was the biggest issue for me during my times in hospital ~ I just felt so isolated.

Cards and letters and care packages in the mail always bring joy to people and the cards sent to hospitals are always read and reread and shown to visitors - they are very special and do mean a lot.

I have just written two cards to go to two different hospitals on opposite sides of the world and I have included healing hugs in both of them.

I actually like hospital visiting but it something I can't do very much these days because of my very reduced immune system and something to do with hospitals being "germ factories" but telephone calls are easy to make and much appreciated.

Wishing you a day filled with sunshine, love and happiness and a heart that is calm and rested in spite of the turmoil going on around you.  Find joy in the little things and nurture and nourish yourself and your relationships.

Thank you for visiting the Musings of My Heart - a calm and peaceful heart this morning.

Love and hugs,
Linda.

WELCOME TO FRIDAY - LETTERS, LOVE AND LAUGHTER.

Hi there on Friday - last day of the working week - I hope those of you who are working at getting along okay and of course those of you on holidays will be enjoying yourselves.  My Friday is coming to and end but Friday in the northern hemisphere is just beginning with most of my American friends sound asleep.

Shhhh let's tiptoe quietly and let them sleep on.  It's been a lovely day here for me - a delightful morning spent in conversation and laughter over the miles that lie between a very dear friend and me.  Then out to a spontaneous lunch with friends - the things that "just happen" on the spur of the moment are often enjoyed the most.  Lunch by the beach, nice meal, good company and then off to the Ice Cream Parlour for Gelato.
The sheer joy of sitting watching the passing parade delights me and I love to watch.   I caught the eye of a beautiful little girl who was talking to herself and nodding her head in answer - enchanting and captivating.  May there always be children in my life to bring laughter and to feed my soul.

If you have little ones in your life be sure to take the time to watch them at their play and to be enthralled at the games they invent and take part in.  It was interesting watching as people came and went - the beautiful tall girl with long dark hair, shorts and a bikini top - what on earth was she doing with my body?

A source of amusement was the young men coming and going and it was interesting to watch the swagger of their hips as they tried to impress the girls.  There were birthday celebrations around us, business meetings over coffee and families out and enjoying the day and each other.  It was a time that filled me with the wonder of life and love - and how we interact with each other.  The sun was shining, there was very little breeze (in fact almost none) and the temperature was cool enough to enjoy being out.   We fell in love with a puppy waiting outside the Restaurant and he enjoyed our attention too.

So all in all it was a lovely summer day - a day to be remembered and revisited often.  I did take my camera but was forgetful and didn't take any photographs - next time.   Car parking was at a premium but we had the luck of the Irish and got a park quite readily at both places.

On the way home I called at the Post Office and found some bills and a lovely letter from New Zealand - my oldest friend in the world always hand writes letters to me and there is always a hint of regret there that we didn't marry - that's another story for another day.  It was delightful to hear from him and to receive the photograph he included.    As you know I love letters from your hand to mine and his letters are always beautifully handwritten and delightfully full of news.  I was 13 when we met and he was 23 and after all these years we still get in touch often.

No dinner for me tonight - I ate very well at lunch - nice steak and salad and then the ice cream - Iced tonic water with a slice of lemon was my choice of drink.  It really has been a delightful, love filled day.

I hope your day has been a good one and that you have enjoyed love, laughter, letters and that your weekend shapes up to be a good one.

Thanks for visiting and reading the Musings of  My Heart - a contented love filled heart today.

Love and hugs,
Linda.
