GOOD MORNING MONDAY WITH MR HAPPY AND MR BUMP

Welcome to Monday in my little corner of the world and I am feeling a little chilly as autumn is heading into winter here - the days are cooler, shorter but still very beautiful.

I had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday and was waited on by my girls and not allowed to do anything, received lovely gifts and had a glorious lunch they had prepared.  It is amazing to stand back and look at these beautiful young women so capable and caring and yet they are my "babies"

Today is the 76th. Birthday of someone who will always be part of my life and who shared childhood days, story time and many books with us.   Happy Birthday Roger Hargreaves - author of The Mr. Men Books and later the Little Miss Series.

We had and enjoyed the whole series of Mr. Men and Little Miss and there was a time when I could recite them word for word - fortunately I have slipped passed those days.   They were books which brought my girls so much joy and they were small and easy to fit into my handbag which meant we always had something to read no matter where we were.

The music with this Blog is one of the Happy Songs and oh yes I remember it well.

The immense joy that this writer brought to children everywhere is wonderful and they are still popular - in fact only the Christmas before last I bought for Rebecca Mr. Christmas

 and for Naomi

It brought a laugh and many memories of happy times with these books.

There seemed to be a subject for each occasion in life - Mr. Bump, Mr. Happy, Mr. Tickle and we had our own Little Miss Chatterbox.

Cherish those story times and the books you shared - our copies of these series of books now reside with Rebecca and I doubt they are looked at often but they are stored away safely and rekindle memories.

Yes there are many sets of books which stir memory  - The Chronicles of Narnia, The Complete Anne of Green Gables Series, The Famous Five and The Secret Seven. Our shelves bulged with them all - Little Women, Good Wives, Jo's Boys and lots of others I had read as a child.

Of course as the years moved on the genre changed and they moved on to other things, - Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and books such as Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Spend time with the little ones in your life and establish a pattern of reading (or being read to) and you will find you have given them a friend for life.

Nourish your own reading habits and spend time with a book - I love my books they take me away from where I am, I can be anyone from Detective to a Traveller, I can live in any age, be the character from my books.  I can be a Gypsy or a Lady of high estate.  I love my travels through my books.

Try to find some time today to turn the pages of a book, enjoy the texture of the paper, the smell of the print and just the knowledge that in that book is your ticket to ride.

Have a wonderful Monday and a great week ahead - I wish you happy hours, good working environment, smooth and easy travelling, happy children, lovely meals and a smile and hug when you need one.

Thank you for visiting and reminiscing with me and taking that journey back to days when "Mr. Happy" or "Mr. Bump" or "Little Miss Chatterbox" could fix anything.

I wish you peace in your world and thanks for reading "The Musings from My Heart."

Love and hugs,

Linda

There was just something about Mr men books, even though, even the kids could recite them word for word they were always favoured reading. 2 at bedtime was a must!
Or Logan chose Mulga Bill's Bicycle or My Grandma lives in Gooligulch but that was more for the actions and voices that came with it
