A MEDICAL UPDATE ON ME

What a day this has been for me - it was my last Clinic appointment before Christmas and it had been seven weeks since I had bloods done and visited the Specialist.

I had the bloods done on Tuesday and the results were there when I arrived today.

"Behold I bring good tidings of great joy"  my Specialist assures me that my blood work is "perfect" and that all my liver function tests are in "the black" which I am guessing means in the range called "normal."  He was delighted - but not as delighted as I am.

I remember exactly a year ago him sitting with his head in his hands and saying to me that he could do no more for me that the only thing that would help would be a transplant.  And you know the rest of the story - two and a half weeks later that's what happened.

I owe my life to an incredible man who clearly stated that he wished to be an organ donor and to his family for being certain that his wishes were carried out.

I have a huge debt of gratitude too to a wonderful surgical team, amazing nursing staff and a team of Transplant Coordinators who never missed a beat in their care of me.

This was wonderful news to my ears and I share it now with the people who took the journey with me from all over the world - with positive vibes, individual prayers and adding me to your prayer chains.  You certainly stormed Heaven's gate on my behalf and I am alive and well and loving it - and so very grateful.

What a wonderful Christmas gift I have received - positive news and the knowledge that I don't have to be back at Flinders until February.  I have said before that it is like taking the training wheels off my bike and allowing me to ride free in the knowledge that there is a wonderful back up team should I need them.

I took the opportunity to slip up to 5E and see who was on duty - there were several nursing staff who had lovingly, tenderly and carefully nursed me and I was welcomed like the Prodigal Son.  They were delighted to see me as was I to see them.  They are a team of special people - Angels in comfortable shoes and I love them all.

I have only been home a little while but I wanted to put out a blog so that you can share my joy.

and I am alive and well and loving it.

Love and hugs,
