A SUMMER FRIDAY

Good Morning and welcome to a real summer morning here in Adelaide, with a cool start to the day but lots of bite in the sun and it is getting warmer quite quickly.

I have been shopping early this morning and home before the heat really arrived.  Only way to do things I think.  I will do my laundry tonight and peg it out before I go to bed and bring it in when it is cool in the morning tomorrow.  Some of my medications require me to keep out of the sun so I just adjust my day to fit in around that and wear a hat etc.  Long sleeves are the curse though in the heat, but my skin is quite damaged by the Stevens Johnson Syndrome that I feel it is necessary to wear them.  I bruise very easily and am often blotched with Prednisolone Purple bruises so the sleeves cover them too. In the big picture blotchy skin and bruises don't matter at all - I am alive and well and what are a few bruises between friends.

This coming weekend it is one year since the Stevens Johnson became part of my life - not a day or time to celebrate but the fact that I came through it is certainly cause to celebrate and give thanks. It is a time I think of often and remember how tough it was - but that I was given strength to be equal to the challenge of it all.

So I am scarred and blotchy but they are marks of Victory and my transplant scar is a constant reminder of the wonderful gift I have been given and the wonderful man and his family who provided that gift.

Mary, Ilona and Narelle leave by car for Sydney tomorrow - Happy Trails to you all - be safe and careful as you travel.  Take care of each other and enjoy your time away.

Another friend - Karen is off to Melbourne for the Australian Women's Open Golf Championship  February 3rd. - 8th. being played at Commonwealth Golf Club Melbourne and the following link will allow you to view the course.

Karen isn't playing but I know she will love being there, meeting friends and discovering fine wines and restaurants.

It is lovely to see the excitement in all of them - Mary not quite so much as it means going home and leaving Narelle - but part of the journey home will be a stay at Taree, New South Wales to visit her brother Bill who just turned 90.

My overseas friends may like to see what Taree is like at this link:

Me - I am starting the round of blood tests, specialist appointments and bone density scans again next week.  It will be a busy week but it is always good to have things checked and although it does make me tired - not as tired as it used to do.

I am going to sign off now and leave you to browse the Golf Course or the lovely town of Taree on the Manning River.

It is Friday and the weekend is here - well almost, and I send wishes to you all for a happy time - stay cool and don't get burned and to my snow sick friends - stay warm.  Make a snowman with your kids - remember to play - it was George Bernard Shaw who said:

"We don't stop playing because we grow old;
we grow old because we stop playing."

Love and hugs,

I am glad you did that - if Carmella would like I can send some more links to Australian golf courses. Take care. xxxx
