HERE IT IS SATURDAY

Here it is Saturday again and we are half way through the first month of the year with 344 days to Christmas 2011.

What a week this has been for some of the States of Australia and I am sorry I have been missing in action.   I have followed the path of the Queensland floods very closely and tried to keep my spirits up.  I am heartbroken for the people of Queensland and the other areas of other States that are under water - the agony of loss of life, loss of property and the gruelling task of cleaning up and getting rid of the mud.

So many decisions to be made - to stay or go, to rebuild or move on.
I am proud to be Australian and to see the wonderful Aussie Spirit alive and well with volunteers out there in the mud and slime working with people they don't know and working for people they don't know.

Reports come in often of a knock at the door and when answered complete strangers say "I am here to help what can I do?"

I can't begin to imagine the pain for those who have lost loved ones whose bodies have not been found - the angst and pain of parents whose children were swept from their arms.  Everyone who survived has a tale to tell and pain of their own.

I have faith in the people of this wonderful land that they will practically, materially, financially, emotionally and carefully and gently support their brothers and sisters who are, at the moment shattered and numb.

On Friday afternoon a wedding took place near the River which has been so flooded and I saw it as a sign of hope that life does go on.

I have had a small hiccup this week but all is well - to cut a long story short what was happening to me is seen as a side effect of medication and I had blood tests and liver and kidney functions are both good - so a change of medication will be the order of the day when I see my Specialist on 4th. February.  I spoke to the Transplant Coordinator who in turn spoke to my specialist and this is the course of action he recommends.  I am blessed indeed to be in the medical care of such a competent team.

Thankful Thursday came and went and my gratitude this past Thursday was for:

A wonderful caring and competent medical team.

That the loss of life in the floods was not greater than it is.

That the little girl who was shot dead in Tucson, Arizona, was able to leave the wonderful legacy of her family gifting her organs and already one little child's life is much improved and others are on the way to recovery.

Bless you Christina Green you became an Angel in more ways than one.
This beautiful little girl was born on the day of the destruction of the Twin Towers and left this world on another day of tragedy.

My heart and thoughts are with Gabrielle Giffords and her family as they wait to see what the result of her shooting will be.  She was just doing her job.

There are other places in the world experiencing floods and fires - it seems out of control at times - but then, when have we ever had control of the weather?

I hope that all is well with you and those you love and I shall try to post more often, but truly I was heartsick about the damage caused and the loss of life.

We had rain here on Thursday, but it was a gentle refreshing rain which fell all day (just the sort of day that Mothers don't like when kids are on school holidays.)

I send my love and care your way and wish you peace and calm as you face your days and I pray for safety and security for you all.
Be kinder than you need to be - remember that everyone is carrying some sort of burden.

Love and hugs,
