ONE SMILE, ONE HUG, ONE ACT OF KINDNESS

Good Morning and welcome to Friday where in Adelaide it is warm, clear, dry and sunny with a gentle breeze - a lovely summer day.   Friday brings the weekend and a change in routine for many who work during the week.   For those of us who are "retired" the weekends are much the same as the weekdays - lovely empty days to be filled with love and laughter, happy times and friendship.

It is remarkable how our lives change - I clearly remember weekends filled with sport for the children in the morning and the afternoon, and a Market stall on Sundays - one blink and it was Monday again - they were busy but happy days.  Now the weekends stretch out in front of me with relaxing times of reading, lunch with friends, shopping if I want to or just lazy times at home.

It matters not what we have planned for each day - it is the opportunities that come before us that give us the chance to make a real difference in the world.

One smile can brighten someone's day - you may be the only contact that person has for the day and to leave them with the warmth of a smile is a wonderful thing.

A warm and welcoming hug for someone - just that human touch can change their day into one filled with sunshine and warmth.

Random acts of kindness mean the world to many - and change the days for those who are housebound - get something from the shops for a neighbour, bring in their mail, collect their newspaper and check that they are doing okay.

If someone is short of money at the cash register and you are able to pay the shortfall - then do it - it will warm your own heart as well as the person you help, and in time they may well pay it forward.   Just one simple act of kindness can change the world.

Mother Teresa said
"Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love."

I believe in the power of 'ONE'  and share with you the Starfish Story :

Life can be harsh, and our world severe and we live in difficult times but with the power of "one" we can make huge differences in the world for those around us.

Malala Yousefzai, the beautiful young lady who survived the attack of the Taliban and has gone one to achieve so much and win the Nobel Peace Prize, when addressing the United Nations said these words:

Wise words from a very wise young lady who when addressing the United Nations wore a shawl which had belonged to Benazir Bhutto, the much admired Prime Minister of Pakistan (assasinated December 2007).

Like the lady rescuing the Starfish, we cannot change the world, but we can do something for one person.   We cannot all do things Globally but we can do things Locally.

Make the little corner of the world where you live a little brighter by shining your light of kindness, warmth and love and if we all do that locally we may indeed make a difference globally.

Brighten the corner where you are.

Thank you for visiting the Musings from my Heart - a heart today a little pensive because of world conditions and events, but a heart nonetheless filled with hope and the desire to encourage you all to shine your light of kindness one deed at a time.

Love and hugs,
