ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL

Good afternoon from another hot day in the City of Churches, but Mother Nature is being kind to us and sending gentle cool breezes to cool us as the day advances into evening.

I found all these beautiful images and put them together to make a collage of "All things bright and beautiful" and I wonder if you, like me, can remember singing this song at Sunday School ?    I liked it then and I like it even more as I explore the canvas of the words and in my mind I view the  "purple headed mountain" and the "river running by".

I find exquisite joy in sunrise and sunset and I recall the ripe fruits of "Harvest Thanksgiving" when our churches would be decorated with the abundance of harvest time.  Tall trees and endless meadows to play in.

The blessing of eyes to see these bright and beautiful things and lips to sing and share the beauty of this magnificent world.

There is beauty all around you if you will only slow down enough to see it and if you will put aside the cares of the world and be present to the moment you will find a wonder and a peace as you let the beauty envelop you.

I found a little ladybird in a spider web on my gate the other morning and I stopped and watched as she struggled to free herself and fly away.    This she did and the minutes I spent watching were beautiful.   She was fiercely independent and was not going to be held back by spider shackles.    I suspect that when she did fly off, she found somewhere sheltered and safe to rest a while and recover.    It was a beautiful time. - just the morning, the ladybird and me.

I could write all day about all things bright and beautiful - the simple things of nature - the velvet petals of a rose, the strong and bold golden daffodil, the fragrance of a violet crushed beneath my heel.  The white of the seagull's feathers, a robins red breast, soft green grass beneath our feet and the plaintive cry of the seabirds.   The changing of the seasons and how the leaves turn to gold, the gentle white blanket of snow that falls so gently and the cold winds that blow.   The sparkle of the summer sun upon the water and the turning of the tides.    The shells upon the seashore and ducks upon a pond.   Penguins large and small who waddle "Poirot" like and otters who hold hands at night so they don't drift away from each other.

It is indeed a beautiful world - "trees of green, red roses too" and I think to myself "What a wonderful world.  *

Enjoy our beautiful world - make a conscious effort to see beauty in the little things and our world will surprise you with it's beauty and you will behold :

ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL

    • Refrain:
      All things bright and beautiful,
      All creatures great and small,
      All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
  1. Each little flow’r that opens,
    Each little bird that sings,
    He made their glowing colors,
    He made their tiny wings.
  2. The purple-headed mountains,
    The river running by,
    The sunset and the morning
    That brightens up the sky.
  3. The cold wind in the winter,
    The pleasant summer sun,
The ripe fruits in the garden,
    He made them every one.
  4. The tall trees in the greenwood,
    The meadows where we play,
    The rushes by the water,
    To gather every day.
  5. He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell
    How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.

Thank you for visiting the Musings of My Heart - a heart aware of all the beauty that there is in this troubled world.   I challenge you to look and to really see all that surrounds you each day.

Love and hugs,
