Welcome to Sunday

A clear and cloudless blue sky for us in Adelaide, although very cold earlier on.  It took some effort to get myself out of bed and go walking - would have been much easier to lie there and read.  I walked a little later than I normally do and encountered different people, different dogs, and more households awake and more waking up.  Not so many Sunday papers on the lawns either.

I did encounter something very special - those of you who know me well will recall that my very favourite flower is the DAFFODIL and this morning I saw in two gardens the very first herald of spring.   So while all this cold and wet has been happening, underneath the soil the glorious miracle of growth has been taking place - and the very first brave and strong daffodils are now in bloom.
It made my heart sing - I don't recall much of last spring at all so these were doubly welcome.

HERALD OF SPRING

I saw you this morning -
The first herald of spring,
You made me smile and rejoice
You made my heart sing.

How could I ever doubt
That spring would come again,
In spite of pewter coloured skies
And nights of lashing rain.

There you stood in all your glory
Head lifted to the sun,
A gentle wind moved your leaves
A new season has begun.

You stand so tall and proud
And strong against the winds of chill
Sweet daffodil you bring peace to me
In days of good or ill.

(written after I got home)

So for me has started a lovely winter day and there is a song in my heart and a  spring in my step as I continue to enjoy it.

Please - whatever season and wherever you are - be grateful for all you have and all you are.   When I count my blessings I count you all twice.

Love and hugs,

If you've never been thrilled to the very edges of your soul by a flower in spring bloom, maybe your soul has never been in bloom.
