TWO DAYS OF THE YEAR GONE ALREADY

Almost bed time for me at the end of the second day of the new year and I am sure the days are going faster than ever before.

I have spent today or most of it taking down Christmas in my home and packing it away - at this stage I only seem to have made a big mess, but tomorrow when I have more energy I will put things away in cupboards and take an extra table out to the garage and it will only remain for me to take my big Christmas trees down and they will stay up until 6th. January (Twelfth Night) or the Twelfth Day of Christmas.

Please do not send the following:

On the twelfth day of Christmas,
my true love sent to me
Twelve drummers drumming,
Eleven pipers piping,
Ten lords a-leaping,
Nine ladies dancing,
Eight maids a-milking,
Seven swans a-swimming,
Six geese a-laying,
Five golden rings,
Four calling birds,
Three French hens,
Two turtle doves,
And a partridge in a pear tree! 

Because I will only have just finished putting Christmas decorations away and will have nowhere to put all the things you send to me.

Perhaps you could just send five gold rings would be fine. 

I have taken the advice of a friend who chooses a word each year that she hopes will be a good guide for her life.

I have chosen the word 'ATTITUDE" for my word for the year and I don't mean that in a negative bad attitude way,  I hope to find a joyful attitude and turn around those things with a negative one.   I had a pile of dishes to do today and was not looking forward to it at all, but these words came back to me from my Mother's Kitchen:

Thank God for dirty dishes, they have a tale to tell,

While others are going hungry, we’re eating very well.

Home, health, and happiness, I shouldn't want to fuss,

With the stack of evidence, God is good to us

It changed my attitude to my dishes and the job didn't seem as long as I thought it was going to be.

I have just checked and there are 357 days until Christmas and I have plans in hand already  - I have been repairing things broken before I put them away, getting rid of some things that are tired and whose time has come.

I have sorted through my recipes I used and carefully filed those I want to use again and discarded those I will not use again.

I have to take down my Christmas Cards and will do that when I have enough time to go through them and note changes of address etc. and respond to those I feel need a reply.

I have very much enjoyed the Christmas Season and all the fuss and preparation and the taking down of all the trimmings, but this morning I really enjoyed my breakfast after days of fancy food and some very yummy things.  I had toast and coffee for breakfast and it was lovely - brought me back to earth again and I didn't use a Christmas setting - I went back to my coffee mug with the words  "I live because of my liver donor" and my green plate.  Normal is in residence again and being made very welcome in my heart and in my home.

So Goodnight to those of you in the Southern hemisphere - sleep warm and well and sweet sweet dreams be yours, and to those in the northern hemisphere enjoy your day, stay warm and be careful on those icy roads.
