SATURDAY SHOPPING AND FOREVER YOUNG

Joan Baez - © Bob Dylan - FOREVER YOUNG

Welcome to midday on Saturday in my little corner of the world where the temperature is forecast for 26 degrees today and 30 tomorrow with rain across the Ranges , but fine on the plains.  It is a lovely sunny Saturday for those with picnics, weddings and outdoor activities.

My activities today consist of shopping, some reading and some jobs around the house.  A quiet day - and I love quiet days when I can just go at the speed I wish and enjoy stopping for a while.

I am aware that I am far from young in years now, but I am young in heart and mind.   My steps are slower and I tire easily but in my mind I run free with the wind in my hair.  I don't mind being older because there comes a wisdom and tolerance unknown to the young and a very great acceptance of things and an understanding I never had before.

I like being older - I like that people ask for advice and I hope I provide them with good, well rounded and considered opinions that help them on their way.   I have learned to not give advice unless it is asked for and to allow others to make their own mistakes.  It is very hard to stand and watch them make those mistakes and even if I suspect there is something wrong, I have to stand back and wait for them to come to me and admit it, or ask for advice - or indeed, to just wait for the acceptance and love they know will be here for them.

They may well be mature adults making their own way in society with responsible jobs and respected opinions, but they are still my babies and when I suspect there is pain I just want to take them in my arms and comfort them.  I want to be able to tell them that the world will be alright again soon and we can work it through.   But I have to wait until they come to me - and I find that difficult.

"May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young"

I wonder if they remember me singing this song to them - I hope they do and my prayer is "May you have a firm foundation when the winds of changes shift"  for they do shift for all of us.

Wherever you are, wherever your children are I hope that you can be strong for them and that they know they only have to turn to you and you are there with them.
May you be forever young.

Thank you for visiting "The Musings from My Heart"
Love and hugs,
Linda.
