SUNSETS AND RAINBOWS

" Let me, O let me bathe my soul in colours; let me swallow the sunset and drink the rainbow."

Kahlil Gibran (1883 - 1931)

Welcome to Monday evening in my little corner of the world where the sky is velvet black and the diamond stars are twinkling in the moon's pale gleam.
The night air is crisp and cold and the evening is very beautiful and it follows a day of blue sky, soft white fluffy clouds.

For a few fleeting moments I was able to view a lovely rainbow today and I suddenly became aware of just how beautiful it was - the colours and the wonder of it all.

I did take a photograph but it didn't turn out very well at all so here is "one I prepared earlier".  I was a little overwhelmed by it and remembered this quote from Gibran and thought it perfect to share with you all.

The soft and gentle muted colours against the strong and vibrant ones, the clouds and the blue of the sky took my breath away and reminded me that we indeed to live in a very beautiful world.  Our recent storms have gone, the wind is calm and my daffodils dance in the breeze.

I sat in the car for a while where I was warm and just "sat" and pondered the beauty that is there all around me all through the year.    I thought of winter skies - silver grey and at times pewter colour and charcoal grey of clouds heavy with rain.   The silver bead curtains of raindrops falling gently onto a welcoming earth.  I saw again the green green grass and the orange and golden leaves of autumn, the lovely golden colour of fields of ripened grain.
I remembered field alongside the highways bright with yellow canola and vivid purple with "Salvation Jane"  ** and saw again the beauty of it all.

In my mind I saw the rosy red cheeks of children coming in from the wind and the vivid bluebells and daffodils of my childhood days - stored well in memory and brought out on special days to bring joy to my soul.  I saw the petals of roses grown on both sides of the world - velvet and fragrant and shared - such softness and beauty.

 Rose and buds of promise
Picked and brought inside for added beauty

The beauty of the world and a carefully and lovingly tended garden can bring such joy both to the gardener and to those who few the results of the labour ~ these grow in a seaside garden in U.S.A. and were shared with me.

My sunrise this morning was "pinkaliscious" - it was stunning in muted shades of pink/lavender and soft grey - it has been a rainbow of a day for me and although I visited an industrial site which was very dull and unkempt - at some stage in the long ago - a gardener's hands carefully planted bulbs,

In the overgrown ground, of what once had been a garden a bold daffodil was poking her head through - and amid the rubble, the grey and the forlorn nature of this site - there was beauty ~ there was a memory held by nature.   Beauty that has been covered in the dark earth for many years and my eyes were tear filled.   It was what I would call a "magic moment" and I would repeat the words of Gibran:

" Let me, O let me bathe my soul in colours; let me swallow the sunset and drink the rainbow."

Thank you for visiting the musings of this wonder filled heart on this beautiful winter day~ a day when I was very glad to be alive to enjoy this beauty.  My heart is thankful and I am living present to each moment - for that is all I have.

Love and hugs,
Linda.

** Salvation Jane or Patterson's Curse ~ Echium plantagineum, a noxious weed but very beautiful with the sun on it.

I love rainbow and roses! All brings forth the colors of possibilities. I bet many people just pass a rose by and don't stop to "really" look at the softness, the vibrance, and the color of the rose. Just like life, you have to "STOP" and smell the roses! They won't be there forever!
