CARPE DIEM

Good Morning and welcome to Thankful Thursday in my little corner of the world where the sun has risen and Mother Nature has lifted the velvet blanket of night.  I sat outside and watched the break of day and listened to the world waking to face another beautiful day in our beautiful world.

I took an early morning coffee outside and although this is summer it was quite cool out there and I felt for the first time the changing of the seasons and a suspicion that summer's days are numbered.   It will be hot again before autumn settles in but it was delightful to feel the chill in the air and to feel the dew on the grass.

My friend has chosen for his word/phrase of the year "Carpe Diem" "Seize the Day" and this image about seizing the moment seemed appropriate to post today.  There is joy in the journey and it is special to be able to grasp with both hands every opportunity every day to LIVE every day.

Be present to each moment of each day - make sure you listen to the little things your children say - if you listen to the little things, there is a much better chance that they will share the important things in their lives with you.

Listening is so important and so too is hearing what is being said, and often what is not being said.  Not only with children, but aging family members need us to be present to the moment and so often we can become caught up in being busy and the business of being busy, that we sometimes forget to stop and listen.

It was an early start to my day because sleep was not my companion but I am glad that I was awake to enjoy the velvet morning.  It was a lovely calm start to my day, a day that lies in front of me without any specific plans.

I love these ordinary days - a blank canvas on which to splash much paint as I can - I love ordinary days and am thankful for them.
During days of crisis and illness I ached for them, pleaded for them, cried for them and prayed for them and now welcome them with open arms and enjoy them to the full.

I will find lots of things to fill my hours, listen to some music, read a little while, visit the Post Office and generally just enjoy the time - no doubt I will talk to family and friends on the phone and may do some letter writing.

How will you spend your day ?  Will you "Seize the Day" ?  Will you find joy in the little things (and there are so many of them) ~ a cool iced drink, a cozy fire, a good book, a good movie, time with your parents, your siblings, your friends and time alone.

Time alone is totally different from being lonely - time alone gives space to nurture your inner being, drink deeply of your thoughts and ideas, rekindle your passion for life, plan for spring or winter.

Seize your day and enjoy every moment - the present moment is all we have.
Have a wonderful day - be a little kinder, a little more loving and caring - everyone you meet is carrying some sort of burden.

Thank you for visiting the Musings of My Heart - a grateful heart and a heart filled with warmth and love and gratitude for this lovely day.

Love and hugs,
